Atomic manipulates the subatomic structure of enemies to inflict damage, shields allies and heals himself.  This power is available by buying it from Marketplace with 600 Station Cash.

This Loadout is focused on Superpowered Playstyle allowing your character to deal heavy damage with Superpowers only. Players must unlock these stat points after unlocking required Weapon Combos (8 Skill Points) and Movement Innates (7 Skill Points)

  • Focus: Superpowered – Use 1 Skill Point
    • Unlock Main Weapon Mastery and Movement Abilities before unlocking this Stat
  • Critical Attack Chance – Use 20 Skill Points
    • Required: 10 Skill Points – Suggested: 15 Skill Points – Recommended: 20 Skill Points
  • Critical Attack Damage – Use 40 Skill Points
    • Required: 10 Skill Points – Suggested: 30 Skill Points – Recommended: 40 Skill Points
  • Might and Power – Use 175 Skill Points
    • Low Skill Points (less than 60): Spend Required skill points in Criticals before unlocking these Stats
    • Mid Skill Points (between 75 and 90): Spend Suggested Skill Points in Criticals before unlocking these Stats
    • Proper Skill Points (more than 100): Spend Recommended Skill Points in Criticals before unlocking these Stats
  • Health – Improve your survival once all Might and Power is unlocked

    • Nuclear Burst [1] + Tap Range + Tap Range > Atom-Powered Assault [4] (use it only to activate Quark-Gluon Aura) > Atom Splitter [3] + Tap Melee+ Tap Melee

      • Atom Splitter [3] + Tap Melee + Tap Melee

  • Alerts and Raids Rotation

Quark-Gluon Aura Activators




There are several superpowers to activate Quark-Gluon Aura besides Atom-Powered Assault [4]. Here we will explain the main difference between them:

  • Atom-Powered Assault [4] is great for boosting your weapon in situations where most likely you’d be out of power and need to use weapon attacks
  • Electron Flare [A1] is great for melee situations. It damages and knocks down nearby enemies. Plus, for a short time you get a radiation aura damaging nearby enemies
  • Proton Remedy [A2] grants you healing over time. Recovery time is sped up if you have Molecular Charges or if your Quark-Gluon Aura is active when this is used
  • Neutrino Blast [A3] grants you a healing effect and immunity against control effects for a short time

Rotation Tips

  • Atomic Rotations allows player to deal heavy burst damage on your enemies but it required a lot of power.
    • It is recommended to wait for power to be restored before engaging another battle
  • These Rotations focus on dealing heavy damage when Quark-Gluon Aura is active.  You can activate the aura before engaging battle by using Nuclear Burst [1] + Tap Range + Tap Range > Atom-Powered Assault [4] (or any other activators)
    • The Quark-Gluon Aura can be activated without being in battle

Tactical MODS

    • Blast Adapter: Weapons attacks blast your target and five other nearby enemies for additional damage
    • Absorption Adapter: Weapon attacks have a chance to activate a shield, reducing damage by 75% until damage equal to 30% of your Health is prevented
  • NECK
    • Escalating Might: Increases your Might by 2% for 8 seconds when you hit an enemy with a harmful super power. Does not work with Supercharge powers
  • BACK
    • Breakout Regeneration: Gain Health regeneration for 4 seconds after using the Breakout ability
    • Berserker: Your damage output increases by an additional 10% when you Health drops below 35%
  • FEET
    • Deadly Block: Your Block Counter causes additional damage equal to 5% of your Precision
    • Explosive Block: Your Block Counter knocks enemies much further away and increases their helpless duration by up to 1 second
    • Core Strength: Gain an additional 2% damage
    • Max Damage: Using super powers increases damage by 2% for a short time

    One thing that I have noticed about using Geiger Beam as a finisher is that I go through so much power that the AM simply can’t keep up, and my gas tank hits empty in short order. Geiger Blast, though, I do not encounter this problem. It may be a unique issue for low levels, seeing that I started an entirely new char to testdrive Atomic, and the current CR is but 43. Do other run into this situation at higher CR?

      Hello DoninDistress, thanks for your comment. Your cr seems to be really low and your power statistics may be low too that could be why you are out of power fast by using Geiger Beam. Maybe when you raise your cr and spend some more skill points in weapon trees this wont be any problem


    I Like your Loadout for Atomic DPS. I’ve been using this Loadout in this order… Beta Surge (1), Nuclear Burst (2), Neutron Bomb (3), Geiger Blast (4), Atom-Powered Assault (5), Electron Flare (6). I start doing my Dual Wield Weapon Mastery move and follow immediately by clipping 5 and 6, then begin my rotation of 1, 2, 3 and finishing with 4. This allows me to crit at the low end of 103K to 127K damage, quite often I may add. Geiger Beam is great for long range damage attacks, and when used I have seen crits of up to 80+K. That’s great number, especially for bosses that are beast and ones you want to stay far away from. ? Just thought I would share. Question… does it matter where you place your power points? Does the damage increase or decrease based on the placement? Probably a dumb question but seems to be in line with discussions held during game play so thought I would ask.


      One more thing… Skill Points. Use to be a time where regardless of more or less SP, some players had amazing damage whereby others did not. I have a mere 137 Skill Points and do well in 4 and 8 man Alerts. I have all Critical Attack/Chance slots filled as well as all Might slots. I added Precision to one or two weapon trees, and Health, Toughness/Defense and Vitalization/Dominance in others to strike a balance. How much does Skill Points matter today in Game Play vs. being a CR of 144, and wearing Gear ranging from Item-Level 123, 124, 128 and 130?

      It is recommend that your Skill points always be higher than your CR. However, there are characters with 200+ skill points that can easily deal more damage than any high cr with low skill points.

      It is true that having sp is not that important like before but having tons of SP will certainly increase your damage heavily

      Hello Stronforce, placing power points is only to unlock require superpowers to your loadout which wont increase your stats at all. However, Specializing in one tree will grant you: Atomic (+1% Critical Attack Chance and +25 Health) or Nuclear (+5% Critical Attack Damage and +35 Health).

    Will you be doing a loadout and rotation with the Quark-Gluon aura active and with the combo powerset of Atomic? I do like this loadout so far but I’d like to see what you have to say about the combo rotation. Thanks & well done.

      Hello Bagofboom, thanks for your question. We consider Nuclear Pressure Loadout as the way to go in order to deal great damage with Atomic. In fact, going with Quark-Gluon Aura will grants +7 Critical Strike Chance, +10 Critical Strike Damage and +15% Might while active. However, as a DPS you must do heavy damage as fast as you can and going with weapon mastery + superpower + atomic combos wont deal enough damage as Nuclear Pressure Mechanic does.

      Remember, all DPS suppose to deal the highest damage with their own advanced mechanics. That is what DCUO Devs point DPS to be ingame. Furthermore, using weapon mastery combos will only benefit the superpower damage and not its atomic combos which is a waste of time to go with it 🙁

    I have a question….
    Tho my SP is 110 CR 141 i find lower lvl @ 132 gets higher damage than mi… is it i rlly lack SP or that I’m still using it wrongly

      Hello Kitti, thanks for your comment. Being great at dps depends on so many factors such as skill points, equipment, Equipment MODs, base MODS, CR, and the power you are comparing to. Atomic DPS deals great damage with Geiger Blast and Geiger Beam. However, other powers can deal heavy damage with a faster Advanced mechanics.

      CR 132 with almost 150 skill points could deal more damage than you but you need to check other factors to really know why they inflict more damage 🙂

    I currently run Earth dps and am very fond of it. Mostly due to the simplicity of the rotation, but ESPECIALLY because of the damage output. How strong is the DPS on Atomic? I have friends which keep telling me it compares to Quantum. Which, to me, isn’t really worth it since my Earth DPS does so much more damage and is easier to handle.

      Hello Kaos thanks for your question. Atomic Advanced Mechanics is actually pretty simple and deal heavy damage with crits around 100k. I think Atomic is more like Gadgets and Quantum pressing 3 superpowers and then hitting with the finisher which according to the situation Geiger Blast (melee and mid range) or Geiger Beam (range).

      It is hard for me to tell if atomic deals more damage than earth but Atomic is really doing heavy damage

      I ran both powers back to back. Did a complete test with my gear and skill points. Turns out Atomic does barely HALF of Earth’s DPS damage in a 12 second. Basically Atomic hit for about 11k while Earth hit for 22k. In a full 72 second run Earth DPS hit nearly triple the damage of Atomic. So Atomic hits hard but the pet game is still too strong.
