Quark-Gluon Aura Activators

There are several superpowers to activate Quark-Gluon Aura besides Atom-Powered Assault [4]. Here we will explain the main difference between them:

  • Atom-Powered Assault [4] is great for boosting your weapon in situations where most likely you’d be out of power and need to use weapon attacks
  • Electron Flare [A1] is great for melee situations. It damages and knocks down nearby enemies. Plus, for a short time you get a radiation aura damaging nearby enemies
  • Proton Remedy [A2] grants you healing over time. Recovery time is sped up if you have Molecular Charges or if your Quark-Gluon Aura is active when this is used
  • Neutrino Blast [A3] grants you a healing effect and immunity against control effects for a short time

Rotation Tips

  • Atomic Rotations allows player to deal heavy burst damage on your enemies but it required a lot of power.
    • It is recommended to wait for power to be restored before engaging another battle
  • These Rotations focus on dealing heavy damage when Quark-Gluon Aura is active.  You can activate the aura before engaging battle by using Nuclear Burst [1] + Tap Range + Tap Range > Atom-Powered Assault [4] (or any other activators)
    • The Quark-Gluon Aura can be activated without being in battle

Tactical MODS

    • Blast Adapter: Weapons attacks blast your target and five other nearby enemies for additional damage
    • Absorption Adapter: Weapon attacks have a chance to activate a shield, reducing damage by 75% until damage equal to 30% of your Health is prevented
  • NECK
    • Escalating Might: Increases your Might by 2% for 8 seconds when you hit an enemy with a harmful super power. Does not work with Supercharge powers
  • BACK
    • Breakout Regeneration: Gain Health regeneration for 4 seconds after using the Breakout ability
    • Berserker: Your damage output increases by an additional 10% when you Health drops below 35%
  • FEET
    • Deadly Block: Your Block Counter causes additional damage equal to 5% of your Precision
    • Explosive Block: Your Block Counter knocks enemies much further away and increases their helpless duration by up to 1 second
    • Core Strength: Gain an additional 2% damage
    • Max Damage: Using super powers increases damage by 2% for a short time

Equipmend MODS

    • Might
    • Might & Power
    • Might & Health (improve survival)

  1. Hi and thanks for this guide! I didn’t play DCUO for a long time (more than a year,i stopped just before pc and ps get together) and i played Earth and Rage (Earth was very nice with the pets etc … but when you go higher in CR, i feel less and less dps but it’s maybe me :p)

So i saw this new power and i saw that both “role” are great in Atomic (DPS and Tank) so it’s nice for me because i like both role in this game but i know that a lot can change in this games, sometimes a power is the BEST by far and one month later not anymore etc …

SO my question is simple: Atomic is still a good power in DCUO? for both DPS and Tanking?

(Ps: Sorry english is not my main language 😉 )

Atomic tanking is know as a battle tank because it uses Atomic Combos to tank and inflict good damage. In DPS, it is not considered one of the best but with Stats Revamping coming soon this will change because stats will matter and having your skill points raised will be more important.

I suggest you to choose the power you love and then raise its CR and Skill points as much as you can 🙂

  2. The load out and the rotation should be the same lol but that being said I also should read the tips better lol. I thought the load out and the rotation were the same lmao. I’m 140 and do crappy dps any tips? 106 sp.

Hello Ray, there can be multiple reasons for your dps to be low. First, your Skill points should be always higher than your CR. Maybe your group members have higher CR and Skill points than you. Better equipment and MODs can be the reason other players deal more damage

Atomic is one of the most versatile powers : –

      1. It’s the first combo power that doesn’t rely on Precision, so you can go full Might.
      2. You can have two different sets of power interactions on the same power bar. One for hard-hitting damage (Geiger rotation), and one for mid-range damage and knockback/stun (Combo rotation).

Both the Combo rotation and the Geiger rotation (the one that DCUObloguide have set out above) have different advantages, which is why it is great to have both on the same power bar, so you can switch between them at will, depending on the circumstances.

Both require you to spam powers, both are vulnerable to interrupt.

The Quark-Gluon combo rotation is more forgiving of interrupts, and is more versatile at melee / mid range for knockbacks and stuns. It’s a steady, grinding, dependable damage rotation, not a hard-hitter.

The Geiger rotation is way less forgiving, but hits nearly twice as hard. If you get your Geiger hit in, you’re golden, but if you miss it through either interrupts, slowness, or your target already being taken out, you’re unlikely to be able to maintain power through the instance, as the Geiger rotation relies heavily on power back from Atomic Powered Assault.

Thanks Dendro for sharing your knowledge 🙂

  3. Hi. I just started a new toon with atomic. I wondered shoukd I use combos with this loadout?

    • DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Ceren, thanks for your question. You can use Atomic Combos while you are under LVL 30 but as soon as you are able to use Atomic Advanced Mechanics you shouldn’t use Atomic Combos

  4. Jaylin Banion

Would you recommend getting a second armory for dps? I currently have an atomic tank

    • DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Jaylin, thanks for your comment. I recommend you to buy second armory only when you are near the highest Combat rating in-game. I also prefer to raise my combat rating in DPS role because it is faster to kill enemies in Challenges, Duos, or missions

  5. Mrs Honest

could you explain what clipping is? I’m not sure what it is and I’ve heard this term a few times :s

    • DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Mrs Honest, thanks for your question. In DCUO, there are some superpowers (specially buffs like Atom-Powered Assault) that can be clipped in order to avoid full animation of other superpowers.

Try to use fast Beta Surge (Damage Superpower) and then Neutron Bomb (Damage Superpower), you will see Beta Surge needs to finish its animation before Neutron Bomb starts.

Try to use Beta Surge (Damage Superpower) and then strong>Atom-Powered Assault (Buff Superpower), you will see Beta Surge‘s animation is reduced when you use Atom-Powered Assault after it. That is called clipping.

As you can check in the Atomic DPS Tips, “Atom-Powered Assault [2]” is recommended to start with DPS rotation to activate advanced mechanic. Once Atomic AM is up, you can clip it after “Beta Surge [1]”,“Neutron Bomb [3]”, or “Nuclear Burst [4]” when it becomes active again
