Atomic Tank Loadout

  1. Atomic Reorganization: Change the atomic composition of enemies in front of you, damaging, stunning, and instantly bringing them to you.
  2. Atom Splitter: damages nearby enemiges and bring them to you. [Atomic Combo] Atomic Fragmentation (Tap Melee): Continue causing localized implosions, damaging and possibly stunning or knocking down nearby enemies. Each additional attack grants you a Molecular Charge. Adds a Nuclear Pressure stack. Once you have 3 stacks and gain 6 Molecular Charges, your Quark-Gluon Aura will activate or refresh it if it is already active. Molecular Charges reconstitute a portion of your tissue when applied, healing you an amount equal to 48% of your max Dominance. The second Atomic Fragmentation will refresh your Quark-Gluon Aura if it is already active
  3. Neutrino Blast: Create many small but dangerous explosions to gain immunity against control effects for a short time. Activates your Quark-Gluon Aura if you have at least 1 Nuclear Pressure stack and at least 2 Molecular Charges when this is used. Provides immunity to control effects and removes control debuffs for you and up to 7 group members. (Usable While Controlled)
  4. Proton Remedy: Regenerate your damaged tissue by focusing on your own subatomic structure, healing yourself over time. Recovery time is sped up if you have Molecular Charges or if your Quark-Gluon Aura is active when this is usedActivates your Quark-Gluon Aura if you have at least 1 Nuclear Pressure stack and at least 2 Molecular Charges when this is used. (Usable While Controlled)
  5. Density: Increase your molecular density and transmute your body into extremely fortified metal for a short time, allowing you to absorb incoming damage. (Usable While Controlled)
  6. Energize (25% Supercharge Cost): Push your Nuclear Pressure and Molecular Charges to the limit, immediately healing yourself. Activates your Quark-Gluon Aura or refreshes it if it is already active(Usable While Controlled)

Atomic Tank Tips

  • In Tank Roles, Dominance is increased by 100%. Super powers increase your Defense and Toughness by 90%Activating your Quark-Gluon Aura provides immunity to control effects for a short time for you and up to 7 group members. While it is you gain +15% Control Resistance, +10% Damage Absorption while not Blocking, and your attacks heal you for an amount equal to 2% of your max Health.
  • Atomic Reorganization [1] bring multiple enemies from far distances to you while Atom Splitter [2] bring nearby enemies toward you.
  • Atom Splitter [2] can deal more damage with its Atomic Combos. This power have 2 Atomic Fragmentation Charges that activates by Tap Melee x2
  • Each time you use Atomic Fragmentation [Atomic Combo] will grant you Molecular Charges which heals you an amount equal to 48% of your max Dominance.
  • By using Atom Splitter [2], it adds a Nuclear Pressure stack and each time you use Atom Splitter [2] combos will grant a Molecular Charge which means after using this power plus its combos you will have 1 Nuclear Pressure and Molecular Charge
  • Using Neutrino Blast [3] and Proton Remedy [4] inmeadiately after Atom Splitter [2] and Atomic Fragmentation will activate your Quark-Gluon Aura instantly.
  • Density [5] will absorb all incoming damage for a short time. This power should be save only when you are really low health and give time to your healer for restoring your health
  • Proton Remedy [4] will heal you over time while Energize [6] heals you instantly plus activating Quark-Gluon Aura instantly
  • While Quark-Gluon Aura is active your attacks will heal you for an amount equal to 2% of your max Health.

Hello Vardan, Dominance, Health and Restoration are the stats you should focus for Atomic Tank

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Anthony, you wont be able to play your role correctly if you use a mixed loadout. Maybe with the coming soon Stat Revamps this could change

  1. kronosh

First,I would like to say your guide is the best.My question is what would be the best weapon to use with your loadout and which weapon mastery at should go with it?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Kronosh, we are glad to be helpful. Choosing a weapon is more about how you fell with it. We recommend One Handed or Staff for tank role because its combos hit multiple enemies at the same time. Once you pick your main weapon you should unlock its main weapon mastery and then its cross weapon mastery

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Rockfall, thanks for your question. For atomic tanks, Dominance and Health can be great once you have enough dominance to keep enemies aggro. Health is important if you keep Quark-Gluon Aura active so you can gain +15% Control Resistance, +10% Damage Absorption while not Blocking, and your attacks heal you for an amount equal to 2% of your max Health.

    2. Rockfall

      Thanks 🙂
I mod Dom & Health in blue sockets but I see a lot of Atomic tanks with pure Dom in there, was wondering if there was an advantage of using pure Dom – I prefer to have some extra Health in there, could be a carry over from my Fire days lol

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

All tanks primary statistics is always dominance. For atomic, getting health is needed for battle tanking so your attacks heal 2% of your maximun health. However, for raids you wont be able to battle tanking because you need to block to avoid being one-shot but as you said having some extra health can make you live longer too

Well Guys just wanted to let you know your guides are still being used and useful. I just started playing and find them great sources of information.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thank you so much PNCKO for your comment 🙂 We are glad our guides are helpful for the community 🙂

  3. animus

Hey just wanted to point out. The heals from atomic comboes have been increased from 40-49% since this post was first made.

  4. Minute Mender

Molecular charges (atomic combos) heal you for 48% of your Dominance, not simply 40%. Please update your guide. Many people, including myself, start with these guides. Thank you.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thanks Minute Mender for letting us know. We just updated this guide with that

  5. Mrs Honest

I want to tank, but I don’t want to start tanking as soon as I hit level 10. I’m not sure if I’ll have the money for an additional armory, so I figured I’d wait to tank until I got to a higher cr. What level do you think I could start tanking at?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Seth, you can get additional armories by buy them from the marketplace

  6. RAGElanternBRO

Hi, I’m just starting n I wanna follow ur guide, but which is best DPS or Tank? Like which would you pick? N I’ll 100% go with that bcuz your an expert.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Ragelanternbro, thanks for your question. Both roles are great but i would choose dps because It is recommended to raise your CR in DPS role so when you reach highest CR Possible try to get an additional Armory for playing both roles.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Mohamed, atomic is considered a really good tank and also DPS. You can be both with an additional armory. However, it is recommended that you increase your combat rating in DPS role

  7. vertheros

Is it ok if I make a replacement?Since I have the supercharge which allows me to get quark gluon aura 4 times at full supercharge bar, I’d rather use Atom Splitter and Thermochemical Explosion to keep my quark gluon aura active because you can’t activate it by using Atom Splitter only.So what am I trying to say is that Thermochemical Explosion must be switched with Atomic Reorganization/Neutrino Blast.I’d rather replace Neutrino Blast so I can have a mechanic to keep my quark gluon aura active and also have 2 pulls.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

It is a great variant vertheros thanks for sharing this with the guide. Our guides are meant to give a starter idea on how to use the power in that particular role. This will end up letting players make their own experience as you did so they end up using and improved loadout that works better for them. However, you should be careful about taking neutrino blast out of the loadout because you wont have any protection against control effects

Sharing this is a great way to contribute to the guide 🙂

    2. Shionkreth

I feel it is working better having thermochemical explosion and atom splitter, easier to maintain the aura, however I agree with dcuoblogguide and think losing neutrino blast is too costly due to the control resistance; your group may need that at a key point. I personally took out energize, which hurts, but with proton remedy for healing and density for emergencies I think it works out so long as you have a decent team supporting you and aren’t way over your head.

  8. Wantlove

Isnt there a like battle tank loadout where you use might into your mods so you do more damage and get better heals?
if you no of this build can you link it?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Wantlove, for the moment we dont have any battle tank loadout. However, we will make some research on it and we will post it if need it 🙂

    2. Minute Mender

Power in yellow mods. Might in red mods. Dominance in blue mods. All syntheics. Escalating might in neck. Penetrating strikes in chest. Max damage in hands. Atom splitter combos. Beta Surge combos. Atomic Reorganization for range pull. Density for shield. Proton Remedy for quick heal.

With that loadout I tanked Blackest Night from the beginning, and by the end, I had put out the most damage. 2nd place was a 159 mental dps with 209 sp who had been dps from the start. The vid is below.

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello JayWilson, please share your loadout with the guide so players can learn more with your experience

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Simon, we are glad to help you understand the game. In DCUO there is no place where how many stacks you have are display. If you activate a superpower and it has a buff you will see an animation in your character. For example, using Density will make your character looks all gray

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Duck, it is recommended that as Tank focus on dominance more than restoration. Once you unlock all dominance from the tree you can go for restoration next 🙂

    2. law

is it crucial to keep the ranged pull reorganization ability? for tanking instances, is it a reasonable alternative to take hard-light shell or word of power as an additional survival ability instead?

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Law, you can switch atomic reorganization with another superpower for challenges, duos, or missions. However, for Alerts and raids you may need to have this ranged pull in order to protect your allies from enemies that are not aggroing you

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Nuclear thanks for your question. You are right but having weapon mastery combos will be great for missions, solo, duos where you dont always have a controller by your side

    2. Jay Wilson

I use only abilities as a ranged atomic tank and it works wonders but makes you a bit of a power hog, but you will never need a healer.

  9. Minute Mender

The amount that molecular charges heal have been increased from 40% of one’s Dominance to 48% of one’s Dominance. Also, a tank’s Quark-Gluon aura now provides 20% damage absorption, but only while NOT blocking.

  10. Hades

Found atomic and rage powers very nice and interesting i have to choose one of them.Is atomic it really worth buying as at tank or dps? Really need help!

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Hades, both powers are great but Atomic seems to be more powerful because of its Advanced Mechanics which is great for melee and range situation. Rage is great but its AM is not that good for range situation 🙁

  11. Saiko Sigma

For my tanking loadout i use
Atom Splitter – atomic reorganization – Theromchemical explosion – neutrino blast – proton remedy – density

atom splitter and thermochemical explosion for combos to heal and of course the pull from atom splitter.

    neutrino and remedy for aura

    reorganization for range pull

    and density for defense.

How does this loadout sound? its been working for me so far in the newest content.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Saiko, thanks for your comment. It is a great variant adding another atomic combo instead of supercharge power. This is very handy for experienced players like you and players should do it once they master Quark-Gluon Aura. However, Energize is also a great power because it will activate Aura and inmediately healing yourself which is really useful when ugly situations.

Both loadouts are great and players should use the best for their needs. Thanks again for sharing it is nice to have experienced players sharing their thoughts 🙂

  12. Lyckaon

Fist of all i wanna say how gratefull i am of this site. Your guides have managed to turn me from a noob tank that couldn’t even tank tier 4 raids while being above required cr, into a competent one that can tank Blackest day elite with only one or two wipes at cr level. Thank you!

Now my suggestion, instead of the max damage hand mod, i think it would be more prudent to use the regenerative shielding one. Atomic tanks already do more dmg than all other tanks given that they spend most of their time comboing for heals, and frankly they dont really need more in my opinion. On the other hand the more heals the better so getting a heal from Density would benefit atomic tanks more than extra damage

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thank you much Lyckaon for your commend. Indeed, replacing Max Damage with Regenerative Shielding is a great variant because it will add another healing when using Density superpower. We will update our guide with your suggestion now 🙂

  13. Jim

Hi so this tank guide , should I use it in order and how much time should I spend between each power? Should I keep using then one after the other beacause in one of your tips I saw that it said I should use density when I’m low on health

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Jim, for tank, healer, and controller guides we cant provide a rotation of how to use the power. However, i can tell you that you should have Quark-Gluon Aura to receive amount equal to 2% of your max Health for each attack.

Atomic tank allows you to inflict attack enemies and also heal back a portion of your health. However, on bosses you should activate your Quark-Gluon Aura and then block until you need to refresh the aura with another atomic combo. This way you will received healing for your atomic combos and your aura.

Density should be saved for emergency because it will give you time to restore a portion of your health and healers to heal you as fast as they can 🙂

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Leetra, it is a great replacement and can certainly use it to improve all healing received 🙂 However, some tanks prefer to have more power so they can use more superpowers 🙂

This comment was originally posted on the DPS guide, but I wanted both guides to have it…

the DPS info in the comment can be ignored if on ly interested in tanking use contact info and I can and will help anyone with Atomic
I am currntly on Live with Atomic DPS and Tank Loadouts and Mothods that I solely created, from scratch and when DPSing in Endgame content such as Blackest Day “Elite” I am hitting so hard with Gieger Bomb, that my crits are constantly between 215k to 230k. And my loadout is very similar, the one big DPS breaker is your reccomendation to clip Beta Surge with Atom Powered Assault.. if you do so, your first rotation will be missing a very important increase in damage on Gieger Bomb.. the attack buff Atom powered Assault must be used first and alone no clipping…. then the 3 powers you use to maximize the damage of Geiger Bomb
always have a power point in Gieger Beam, for ranged damage, and one power point for Mass Density Supercharge/full group shield… Use the loadout with G-Bomg as often as posible..
When using G-Bomb, put the group shield Mass Density SuperChagre power in loadout where G-Beam “weak and for long range” put Mass Density ….

Must use tips, forst and foremost you need to craft Chronomectric Emitters, and Personal Dampening, the T 7 mods… not the older versions

Put Crometric Emitters in your first consumable slot on your utility belt, and hit it on any adds that lunge/attack/and inturtiption

Chrono will Qauntm stuun the ADDS just long enougj to allow safety and time to activate Atom Power Assault and most cases a full ro rotation ending with Geiger Bomb

now Dampenig fiedls you should have them in you inventory where it is near the top left, so that you can fire and orbotal s and then quickly open inventory to select the Damp Fields….

Uses that benift Atomic Dampening Fields : Evertime you go to revive another player who is down, activate Dampening Field first, then pick them up this will alllow you to be safe from damage and CC’s for a short amount of time also if you have a DOT on you, (damage over time….) SO safer pickups in the hardest spots to pick ppl up..

Dampening field Damage Increasing with Atomic DPS…

when in a boss fight and you need to get close for max dps, use Damp Fields whenever they are available to activate again , and again, etc. While the Field is up, you absorb any damgae done to you when close up to the boss and in the dangerous areas, still able do fire your rotation off no problrm, sew

I have another DPS loadout and build, anyone who would like to get more comfortable and hands on help with your new Atomic powers, I am on USPC sever my toons names are REFLEKT, Will Centurion , Hopes Centurion , on villian side toon is Parallax Centurion… just send me an ingame email or add me to friends list and holler at me with a tell iand I will help you no problem… I espially like sharing my other custom DPS beast mode build… Also have two build for TANKING Atomic style that I can share with anyone and demoonstrate using it in actual content that is at my CR level

hope to see you fellow Atom Bombs in game, and hit me up please for anything, I am also interested in comparing my builds with others… see yall on the battlefield. REFLEKT

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thank you so much Reflekt for sharing this amazing post with us. Im sure other players will enjoy reading and use your experience to play atomic better 🙂

    2. Atomic Presence

Sooo, what exactly is your loadout?

      Atom-Powered Assualt (1) > Beta Surge (2) > Neutron Bomb (3) > Nuclear Blast (4) > Geiger Blast (5) > Mass Density Supercharge (~)

      Atom-Powered Assualt (1) > Beta Surge (2) > Neutron Bomb (3) > Nuclear Blast (4) > Geiger Beam (5) > Mass Density (~)

Sorry, your post was a little confusing.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Hr.Tank, all tank powers are great at the moment and atomic is also a good tank mixing Ice with Fire mechanics. Density is a must use power which will absorb all incoming damage, this will give you time to your healer restore your health and you to use superpowers and atomic combos to heal yourself too 🙂
