This power is available by buying it from Marketplace with 600 Station Cash.

Atomic Tank guide is updated to GU73. You can check videos from DCUO Youtubers below to learn more about other loadouts and rotations.

Every tank has its own mechanics to survive NPCs attacks. These are the mechanics for Earth Tanking:

  • In Tank role, you gain the following benefits
    • +90% Defense while not blocking
  • Molecular Charges (granted by Atomic Combos) heal you for an amount equal to 40% of your max Dominance.
  • While your Quark-Gluon Aura is active you gain:
    • +15% Control Resistance
    • +25% Damage Absorption while not blocking
    • Your attacks heal you for an amount equal to 2% of your max Health

This Loadout is focused on Superpowered Playstyle allowing your character to improve Super power attacks and granting 25% Power Regeneration. Players must unlock these stat points after unlocking required Weapon Combos and Movement Innates (7 Skill Points)

  • Focus: Superpowered– Use 1 Skill Point
    • Unlock Weapon Combos, and Movement Abilities before unlocking this Stat
  • Critical Attack Chance – Use only 10 Skill Points
  • Critical Attack Damage – Use only 10 Skill Points
  • Dominance – Use 175 Skill Points
    • Primary Stat for empowering your Molecular Charges healing while not Blocking and Shield
  • Health – After Unlocking Dominance
    • Increase your survival after Full Dominance
    • Secondary Stat for empowering Quark-Gluon Aura Healing
    • Spend 5 Skill Points before going Full Dominance to gain Health percentage increase
  • Might and Power – After unlocking Dominance
    • Increase your damage and power pool after Full Dominance and Health
    • Spend 5 Skill Points before going Full Dominance to gain Might and Power percentage increase

  • Use Atomic Reorganization [1A] to drag your target and nearby enemies
  • Use Atom Splitter [2] to pull enemies toward you. This is very helpful when multiple NPCs are hitting you and your tank needs a break
    • Atomic Combos x2 (Tap Melee) – Each Atomic Combo grants you a Molecular Charge
    • Second Atomic Combo will refresh Quark-Gluon Aura
  • Thermochemical Explosion [3] damages enemies in front of you
    • Atomic Combos x2 (Tap Melee) – Each Atomic Combo grants you a Molecular Charge
    • Second Atomic Combo will refresh Quark-Gluon Aura
  • Proton Remedy [4] heals you over time. Recovery time is sped up if you have Molecular Charges or if your Quark-Gluon Aura is active when this is used
    • Use this immediately after Atomic Combos x2 to activate Quark-Gluon Aura
  • Neutrino Blast [5] is your Group Breakout ability. It heals you and provides immunity to control effects to you and up to seven teammates.
    • Use this immediately after Atomic Combos x2 to activate Quark-Gluon Aura
  • Density [6] grants you a Shield for a short time allowing you to absorb incoming damage.

  • Atomic Reorganization [1A] is the main tank superpower for getting NPCs aggro
  • For some instance mechanics, Atomic Tanks will need to use Particle Beam [1B] to taunt a single target (bosses or sub-bosses). The effect is more powerful and will not be broken by a standard Tank Role taunt
  • If you want to have both superpowers Atomic Reorganization [1A] and Particle Beam [1B], you can replace it with Thermochemical Explosion [3]. However, this is not recommended.

  • When engaging battle, start with Atom Splitter [2] + Atomic Combo (x2) plus Proton Remedy [4] to grab enemies aggro and immediately activate Quark-Gluon Aura
    • It is important to always have Quark-Gluon Aura to improve healing effects and grants damage absorption while not blocking
  • Atomic Tanks are considered the best Battle Tanks because they use Atom Splitter [2] and Thermochemical Explosion [3] to inflict heavy damage to enemies while controlling them and healing themselves everytime they use Atomic Combos or any attack with Quark-Gluon Aura
  • For those instance mechanics where 2 tanks are needed. Communicate with your tank partner and coordinate who will be using the Single Taunt ability.
    • Having both tanks with the Single Taunt will let the group vulnerable for NPCs to attack them without the tank being able to drag multiple targets

Tactical MODS

    • Absorption Adapter: Weapon attacks have a chance to activate a shield, reducing damage by 75% until damage equal to 30% of your Health is prevented
  • NECK
    • Fortified Assault: Increases your Defense by an additional 10% while not blocking
  • BACK
    • Breakout Protection: your Defense and Toughness is increased by 10% for 4 seconds after using the Breakout ability
    • Breakout Regeneration: Gain Health regeneration for 4 seconds after using the Breakout ability
  • FEET
    • Deadly Block: Your Block Counter causes additional damage equal to 5% of your Precision
    • Quick Healing: Gain an additional 2% bonus to Healing Received
    • Max Damage: Using super powers increases damage by 2% for a short time

Energize i feel is a waste for tanking, even more so now. With all the ways to get the aura. If your using thermo nuclear explosion and atom splitter as your combos you’ll have 2 (proton remedy and nutrino blast) to activate the aura. I also swap depending on what im doin nutrino blast with atom reorganization, shouldnt need both on tray. Hope this helps

Thanks Atomikazi for your comment 🙂 This explanation will certainly help others

  4. Dear DCUOBloguide,

Thanks a ton for the abundance of information published here. I find the site to be more useful, and easier to use than the official forums.

I just want to point out, that when you start out with Atomic, and you choose to use the AM -Advanced Mechanics loadout, in the beginning of the game, as a DPS role, and you later decide that you want to play as a tank role with AM’s, it is impossible to use the loadout posted here above, because players are not given enough power points to configure both roles for use with AM’s; or at least the loadouts found on this site.

If you want to use the AM’s loadout listed above, as a tank, you can do so; but you will have to reset the power points, and re-allocate them for use in the tank role, but however, at the cost of losing pieces of your AM’s loadout for the DPS role.

So, let’s say you’re in the same boat as me: You started the game as a DPS, invested all power points in AM’s for that role, and later on decide you want to be a tank with some excellent capability….. BUT, you do not wish to forfeit your AM’s DPS loadout, and the only powerset you have available comes from the tree that enables that particular configuration.

This means that you would have all the powers mentioned in this article, except three:

    – Nuetrino Blast
    – Density
    – and Energize

What would you recommend as substitute for those three, if all you have are the powers enabled from the AM DPS loadout?

Also, if it’s not recommended to play the game with a mixed configuration, then why do you suppose they give players access to armories and allow players to switch between multiple roles, if all we can really spend is just 15 power points, which is not enough to allow us to get the most out of each role; when you consider the way they have the power trees organized?

Do you you think it’s broken, and/or do you think they can, or even will fix it?

    Your thoughts, please…..!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

P.S. -As much as I love this site, it is often impossible to view your content on mobile, due to the large segement of advertising on the bottom right of the whole page. It often covers the majority of content when trying to view on mobile, or game console… primarily when zoomed-in to read. I was hoping someone could fix that, or do something to keep it from interfering with your content, is all. Just some constructive feedback. Thanks again!
