  2. Inferno: Ignites the area near your target with roaring flames. The searing heat burns your target and nearby enemies. Also scorches enemies near you, damaging and knocking them down. Inflicts Burning to cause damage over time; Bestows Immolation upon all allies in the area of effect, inflicting Burning to nearby enemies that attack them causing damage over time. Thermal Absorption restores power while you have VolatilityIncrease all damage by 50%
  3. Fiery Weapon: Ignites your weapon, increasing critical strike chance and critical strike damage. Striking a Burning enemy may deal damage and provide a healing effect.Thermal Absorption restores power while you have Volatility. Increase all damage by 45%
  4. Fireburst: Unleashes a pyroclastic barrage against your enemies, damaging and knocking them down. Damage increases while you have VolatilityActivates Volatility when used against Burning enemies. Extends the duration of Burning, Volatility, and Thermal Absorption effects. Increase all damage by 45%. (Vunerable to Interrupt)
  5. Flame Cascade: Launch a barrage of flaming balls at your enemies, damaging and knocking them down. Activates Volatility when used against Burning enemies increasing the damage they take. Thermal Absorption restores power while you have Volatility and when attacking Burning enemies. 6. Volcanic Calamity (50% Supercharge Cost): Surround your enemies with a ring of volcanic fire, rooting, stunning and causing a devastating explosion.

Fire DPS Rotation

    • “Burning Determination [1]” (Inflicts Burning to cause damage over time. Activates Volatility and Thermal Absorption)
    • “Inferno [2]” (Ignites the area near your target with roaring flames. Inflicts Burning to cause damage over time; Bestows Immolation upon all allies in the area of effect, inflicting Burning to nearby enemies that attack them causing damage over time. Thermal Absorption restores power while you have Volatility)
    • Clipped with “Fiery Weapon [3]” (Ignites your weapon, increasing critical strike chance and critical strike damage. Striking a Burning enemy may deal damage and provide a healing effect.Thermal Absorption restores power while you have Volatility.)
    • Players may choose between these burst attack powers depending the situation:
      • Fireburst [4]” (1.9 seconds casted melee and mid-range damage, Damage increases while you have VolatilityActivates Volatility when used against Burning enemies. Thermal Absorption restores power while you have Volatility and when attacking Burning enemies. Burning, Frostbitten, and Electrified enemies take additional damage. Extends the duration of Burning, Volatility, and Thermal Absorption effects) [Vulnerable to Interrupt]
      • Flame Cascade [5]” (instant long range damage very useful for crowd control, Activates Volatility when used against Burning enemies increasing the damage they take. Thermal Absorption restores power while you have Volatility and when attacking Burning enemies. Extends the duration of Burning, Volatility, and Thermal Absorption effects) [Vulnerable to Interrupt]
    • Until “Inferno [2]” and “Fiery Weapon [3]” are enable, repeat Main Rotation without them
    • If you still have Thermal Absorption (Blue fire on your character) activated, players dont need to use “Burning Determination [1]” with the Main Rotation
    • Fireburst  [4]” and “Flame Cascade [5]” are vulnerable to interrupt so be careful if your enemies are constantly interrupting your attacks
    • Players need to be at most 12 meters from their targets to inflict damage with “Fireburst [4]”
    • Thermal Absorption is shown as a Blue fire on your character and emits a sounds that indicates when it is going to end which lasts close to 6 seconds. You must use “Fireburst [4]” or “Flame Cascade [5]” to extend the duration of Burning, Volatility, and Thermal Absorption effects

Fire DPS Tips

  • The Thermal Absorption effect applies Power Regeneration so players should avoid spamming superpowers if they are low powered.
  • “Inferno [2]” clipped with “Fiery Weapon [3]” should be used only after applying Thermal Absorption effect because they dont extend Thermal Absorption duration like “Fireburst [4]” or “Flame Cascade [5]” does.
  • If you dont see a Blue fire on your character, you DONT have Thermal Absorption effect so you wont received power regeneration for using your weapons.
  • It is important that Fire DPS Players master Thermal Absorption effect by seeing the blue fire or hearing the sound it emits so they can refresh its effect with “Fireburst [4]” or “Flame Cascade [5]” or reapplied with “Burning Determination [1]
  • For DPS, “Max Damage” Tactical MOD is required for all superpowers to increase all damage by 60%
  • When using Might Based advanced mechanics players will gain an additional 5% chance to crit and 25% crit damage for all super powers

Tactical MODS (Lair System Required)

  • Weapon: Blast Adapter
  • Neck: Escalating might
  • Back: Breakout Regeneration
  • Feet: Deadly Block
  • Chest: Core Strenght
  • Hands: Max Damage

Equipmend MODS

  • Red Socket
    • Might
  • Yellow Socket
    • Might & Power
  • Blue Socket
    • Might & Health (improve survival)

Also it is vital that u try to master the timing since Absorb Heat makes u stand still and provides no knock back and can be interrupted and if u loose concentration and forget to jump cancel u will probably get interrupted and loose your flames or waste power breaking out and eventually use all your power if u keep getting interrupted cus all 3 are interruptable to u need to concentrate on your dps rotation nor will it provide any heals although u may be able to include burning determination if u have enough vit to keep its power regen up enough for u regen the lost power

  2. Matthew good

15 to 16 seconds to full power back with jump cancelling Absorb Heat compared to 23 seconds to full power back without jump cancelling Absorb Heat

  3. Matthew good

Tip: try to time jump cancel on Absorb Heat so it looks like Ice Frost Snipe (or quicker than) to achieve maximum rotation speed

  4. Matthew good

U can immediately jump cancel Absorb Heat to speed up the rotation however it only adds 1 extra move wich is not recommended cus the rotation will fail if u do an extra move

    1. Matthew good

However it is vital that u try to master the timing since Absorb Heat makes u stand still and provides no knock back and can be interrupted and if u loose concentration and forget to jump cancel u will probably get interrupted and loose your flames or waste power breaking out and eventually use all your power if u keep getting interrupted cus all 3 are interruptable to u need to concentrate on your dps rotation nor will it provide any heals although u may be able to include burning determination if u have enough vit to keep its power regen up enough for u regen the lost power

Although as long as there are enemies u can do Burning Determination then keep spamming Fireburst or Flame Cascade then repeat with Burning Determination

  5. Matthew good

But the only draw back is u have to immediately reactivate flames with Absorb Heat or the flames will dissapear and u wont regen power when using Absorb Heat BUT u can only use Absorb Heat and either Flame Cascade or Fireburst and rotate using thise two powers (eg Absorb Heat > Fireburst > Absorb Heat > Fireburst etc) BUT u will remain stationary for longer as Absorb Heat doesnt allow u to move while in use so using both Flame Cascade and Fireburst will alow u to reduce the time that u remain stationary at the cost of having to immediately use Absorb Heat afterwards to keep the flames active cus the flames will dissapear almost instantly if Absorb Heat is not activated immediately after and therefore provide no regen on use

  6. Matthew good

Using Absorb Heat > Flame Cascade > Fireburst seems to result in more stable power regen as the power will almost always be refilling itself full opposed to your power being used in 2 moves (Fireburst > Flame Cascade) then being refiled by Absorb Heat, your power is refilled by Absorb heat then refilled by Flame Cascade while Fireburst is doing it is animation also it seems to result in much quicker power regen to keep your power topped up ((23 seconds to fully restore ur power to max) 14 seconds or 2 n a half rotations or Absorb Heat > Flame Cascade > Fireburst (1) > Absorb Heat > Flame Cascade > Fireburst (2) > Absorb Heat > Flame Cascade as opposed to 17 seconds (25 to fully restore power to max)) although bear in mind that this was done with a lvl18 with 2075 power and 37 restoration

  7. Matthew good

Actually either Absorb Heat > Fireburst > Flame Cascade OR Absorb Heat > Flame Cascade > Fireburst will regenerate equal power but Absorb Heat > Fireburst x2 seems to regenerate just a bit more power

  8. Matthew good

Seems like the ONLY way to successfully dps rotate outside of combat without enemies is to use absorb heat then fireburst x2 OR flame cascade x2 (Although i found that using Absorb Heat > Fireburst > Flame Cascade OR Absorb Heat > Fireburst x2 will regenerate the most power when using Absorb Heat again to reapply flames) unfortunately u cannot use Burning Determination as it will just end up using all your power during the rotation although it may be possible if u have alot of vit, also Burning Determination will be used after Absorb Heat as it interfears with the regen process of Fireburst+Flame Cascade and Absorb Heat (will end up causing Absorb Heat to regen less power, as will Absorb Heat > Flame Cascade x2 aswell)*

    1. Michelle

No offense but why would you want to do rotations if you’re not in combat and there are no enemies?? On troll or healer role it would make sense but on DPS??
Also if you read the power description for Absorb Heat to succesfully regenerate power you need to hit a burning enemy.
Burning Determination allows you to move & it only needs to be used once unless you lose the flames, then you need to use it to start over.
PD: If you’re going to post a comment it would be nice of you to not spam the comment section leaving the rest of the comments behind

  9. AshesXScream

Do not use fireburst! I reccomend using fire cascade for it clips better with burning determination and firey weapon AM. Cascade is quicker, so in case it gets interrupted it coes not throw off the entire rotation. It also onocks enemies into the air which is helpful when trying to solo, or in groups making ads and some bosses vulnerable. Cascade doesnt produce the same damage as fireburst, however about 3-4 spam moves of cascade (rotation before fiery weapon cools) with crits spec’d produces the equivalent or more dmg in the time it takes to put out fireburst. So fireburst completely out, I put in 2 Supercharges on the right load; eternal flame (for oh shet situations or when switching from tank to dps mid combat when the boss at a sliver of health) and Volcanic calamity for some good dmg. Besides, BD, FW, and cascade all you need in your rotation, easy 123 333

    1. Patricio

It is 123444444423444444, something like that. And instead fireburst i use the iconic power robot sidekick.

Hello Malik, thanks for your question. Flame Cascade improves your damage with Volatility power interaction which is why it is better than using absord heat only

  10. Chris

hi, thank you for your guide.

I am very very noob in this, I have a meagre 80+ SP so far, so I was wondering how I should distribute it as I am a fire dps brawler with flight mode.

Should I go down every weapon tree and spend the SP to increase the stats on Crit Chance, Crit Dmg, Precision and Might?

Or should I achieve weapon mastery on brawler first?
If I do the brawler WM, should I just spend the 21 Sp required and then should I invest the remaining SP on Crit Chance, Crit Dmg, Precision and Might? Or would you suggest I use in cross weapon?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Chris thanks for your question, we are always glad to help new players 🙂

First of all, you should unlock all recommended skills for flight, here is the guide for that
Then, you should unlock main weapon mastery and cross weapon mastery, for these you will need more than 90 skill points but start with brawling tree and then choose what weapon mastery combos you like from cross weapon mastery.

We have guides about skill distributions for all weapons you can find them here . You will find in these guides how to distribute your skills according to your role 🙂

    2. Chris

thanks for the reply, so now i have 93 SP and I have spent the 7 SP in Supersonic, Dive Bomb, Restraint Resistant, Stun Resistant, Restraint Recovery, Stun Recovery and Breakout Mastery.

Then i went ahead on the remaining 86 SP in brawling, MA and Two handed. I have weapon mastery for all 3, and cross weapon brawling with MA and TH on the brawling tree.
And on my way in getting 21 SP for WM, I use the SP in might, might & precision, power, health, CC and CD. (Mostly on CC, CD and Might of course)

I am using the same load out you are suggesting, I am CR 144 by the way, what is notable is that I can get an avg of 9K~11K against a sparring dummy and the rotation is good. I get blue flame, restoring power etc etc.

But in duo, alert and raid i am zero. A guy in my league who has 1 CR more than me, but he only has 71 SP but doing dmg 2x mine on average in our duos with his rage power (looked up his stats, and everything is same as mine). And here’s the thing, I am not restoring power when I am doing the same rotation.

I really just don’t get it.

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Chris, for DPS you also have to watch how far you hit enemies. All Advanced Mechanics including Rage and Fire deal more damage when they are closer to the target, this may be the reason why your partner is doing more damage with Rage.

Restoring power with sparring dummy is different from going alone to instances. It is recommended that your Skill points always be higher than your CR because you will need all that power statistics unlocked from Weapon trees to have enough power pool to use your AM without a controller and even with that you need to watch out your power consumption a little bit. Try not using Inferno for Challenges, Missions, or Duos and it will save you a lot of power

  11. SonnyBlaze

Is this guide still viable for fire dps? If you have any adjusment let me know in the comments please 🙂

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello SonnyBlaze, this guide is still viable because there havent been changes on Fire DPS within the past Game Updates 🙂

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Alex, you need to understand how to access Fire Advanced Mechanics which means you should focus in ignition Tree at first. Reaching level 30 is like finishing the tutorial so try to understand about the game and your power while leveling until you reach 30

  12. Shawn Gibney

Hello, new to the game into this site but I really love both. My question though is this. I just bought my second firepower, meteor. I believe though, meteor provides two different effects so the one power it takes up to how are slots. My nephew, who is been playing this for a couple years has never seen this before. Is this intentional or a mistake? If it’s supposed to be like this, is there a way to remove one of the two effects from your tray while keeping the other?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Shawn, it is great you wrote us. We are glad to help.

You are probably leveling your character and you unlock Meteor which grants you 2 different powers Meteor Strike and Meteor. You dont have to worry about them you can take off powers from your loadout by going to TRAITS > LOADOUTS > DAMAGE. In fact, when you reach LEVEL 30 you can follow this guide and you will need to modify your loadout as displayed in the image.

If you have any other question we will be glad to answer it 🙂

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Nabsy, you can use Robot Sidekick instead of Volcanic Calamity with no problem. However, for Alerts and Raids where you cant have robot alive all the time, having a supercharge power is a great choice 🙂

  13. Zaeg

Fire AM power regeneration in the new update is significantly weaker now. I’ve noticed this is the same with other powers. WM should be mixed in the rotation

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Zaeg, you shouldnt mix WM with the rotation. Maybe you should get more power stats or improved your combat rating so your AM improves as well

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Eion, fire got improve recently in GU54 so i dont think it will be revamped soon. There is no news about light revamped but it may come with future GU.

    Hello DCUO Blog Guide Team,

Hope all is well. QQ… Just started using Fire Power. I started with Mental, then Quantum, Atomic and now Fire. I noticed along with Sorcery, that Ice and Earth have a pet. Is there any hope in Fire getting an Elemental Fire pet similar to Sorcery, Ice and Earth?

Think it would be widely appreciated by all members whose power is Fire.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Strongforce, it is a great idea. However, the only powers that focus their AM on Pets are Sorcery and Earth. Maybe Fire could get an Elemental Fire pet just for fun like Ice has 🙂

  15. Pam

Hey there, first I want to say that I love your site and i use it a lot (for collectibles and styles and as a reference to make my loadouts when I start with a new power).

Second I would like to share my loadout with everyone. It’s based on the loadout from this guide but I made some modifications to make it work for melee and range situations. (Basically I removed some iconic powers and used those points to unlock other powers included in the AM. You can view it in the following link:

1.- Burning Determination. Starts the AM, inflicts burning and applies thermal absorption and volatility.
2.- Inferno or Enflame. This is an AOE attack and inflicts immolation.
3.- Fiery Weapon. Increases your might, critical strike chance and critical strike damage. It also gives you a small heal when you hit a burning enemy with your weapon.
4.- Fireburst. Burst attack for melee and midrange, refreshes the AM.
5.- Flame Cascade. Burst attack for range, refreshes the AM (deals lower damage but hits enemies faster which is useful to secure the refresh of the AM).
6.- Mass Detonation or Volcanic Calamity. The first is a burst attack for range, refreshes the AM. The second is a supercharge attack (50% cost) that deals good damage.
Rotation: Burning Determination > Inferno/Enflame clipped with Fiery Weapon > Burst > Burst … (Use burst until 2 & 3 become available again, then reapply them and continue with the burst).
Burst can be fireburst, flame cascade or mass detonation.

If your health starts dropping in solos or duos you can use burning determination and fiery weapon (with a single weapon attack to a burning enemy) to heal yourself.

In solo content you can use a variation of the rotation: burning determination > enflame clipped with fiery weapon > flame cascade > flame cascade > repeat until enemies are down, When moving to another set of enemies start from beginning. This rotation doesn’t deal as much damage as the other but it will keep you safe and powered. For this you’ll have to replace inferno with enflame.

For boss fights you can replace fireburst or mass detonation with volcanic calamity. To avoid using volcanic calamity by accident place it in the 6th spot and fireburst or mass detonation in the 4th.

Keep flame cascade in your loadout to refresh the AM in case you get interrupted while using fireburst or mass detonation.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thank you so much Pam for sharing this amazing explanation of how to use Fire DPS Advanced Mechanics. It is nice to have experienced players like you that are willing to improve our guides in order to help other players understand better the power 🙂

    2. Imaro Daktari

This is the best explanation of fire’s AM ive ever seen, not just what to do but WHY. I salute you

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

All Powers are great in their own way. Fire is considered a great DPS power. However, there are other powers such as Ice or Atomic that deals great damage too. The most important thing is you to know your power and enjoy it 🙂

    4. bludclot

I’m sorry but I have a question and I couldn’t find how to post my comment at all so I had to hit reply..
First off, I’m very happy that people are still posting here, and I’m super happy that you’re actually still responding!
My question is this.. Has anyone actually parsed the DPS difference between the 2 spells Flame Cascade, and Fire burst over any set amount of time? The thing that just makes me wonder is the long cast time of Fireburst. I’m very aware that it crits higher, and obviously has superior burst damage, but I would love to see the actual numbers between those two spells over, say, a 30 second span.
      bludclot aka Brian

    5. Joe

Pam, Mass Detonation does not refresh the AM and it does not extend Thermal Absorption the way Flame Cascade and Fireburst will. I’ve been alternating MD and FC in my main rotation… but it does require that I pay attention to the blue flame a bit more because of the limitation of MD.

    6. Pam

The 3 different bursts fire has work in different ways, it’s up to each player to pick the ones that work for them. The loadout i shared above is the one i use on my main character, you can change it to your needs or comfort, however if want to use the AM you need the first 3 powers & either FC, FB or both.
I use FB & FC mostly but keep MD on my loadout because i don’t like robot sidekick or SC, i use MD for raids & alerts where I can’t be on melee range all the time & enemies are spread around all the area, also because spamming over & over FC is boring for me. To get MD to work better & have less risk of losing the AM you need to alternate FC & MD (works for FB too).
If MD doesn’t work for you replace it with something that does because it’s not necessary to do good damage.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Jklands1, for missions, challenges, duos you should use Flame Cascade instead of Fireburst, both are vulnerable to interrupt but Flame Cascade will crowd control enemies and doesn’t last as long as Fireburst

  16. Zaeg

Thanks for the reply! this loadout is definitely decent in PVE, but I believe it is not terrible in PVP. Can you share some of your experience or tactics to use this loadout in PVP effectively? I’ve used this loadout and I got myself a few wins, but that is as far as I can go. I’m a brawler, I have 49 skill points, and I really want to stick with brawling because it seems fun and very powerful to me, one downside is that it is slow. I usually go in with half of the rotation of the, Flame Cascade is a good block breaking ability, Fire Burst takes too long to cast so I never use it. both FC and FB does a lot of damage but I don’t know how to set them up, since they are vulnerable to interrupt.

    1. Zaeg

I understand that it takes sometimes to learn, but can you suggest some general combo ideas, clipping, how to not get knocked down a lot. I’ve noticed a lot of people mixing WM combos with AM very fast, I went in and got knocked down, losing a trunk of health without knowing how, I tried to block but it very risky, they broke my block so fast, and my health kept disappearing.

    2. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Fire advanced mechanics has a disadvantage compare to other Power AM such as Ice or Quantum which doesnt require to refresh its Advanced mechanic starter. You must be careful of not getting interrupt or block breaking because that is the time where experienced players burst damage with superpowers. When you are controlled all damage is increased that is why a lot of health is lost.

Hope this help you a little, but the truth is that the only way to be good at PVP is practicing a LOT

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Zaeg, first of all you brawling is a great weapon because it deals heavy damage but it is really slow. However, most experienced players know how to counter this weapon same as dual wield or one-handed so you must be very careful when blocking or interrupting. Check this video to know more about PVP basics

In pvp, you cant go with PVE rotation because flame cascade will be easy target for interrupting but using it for block breaking is optimal and it is good you realized that.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Zaeg, our guides are PVE oriented because it is hard to define viable PVP loadout. However, i personally use this loadouts for PVP and PVE because winning pvp battles will depend mostly on your weapon, advanced mechanics, blocking, and interrupting skills

  17. Malebolgian

Hello, I’ve been using your site for a while and I find it very useful for people like me, who take 6 month breaks and come back to an entirely new loadout every time lol. I’m trying out fire dps, and I was wondering if there was any reason why you wouldn’t want to switch out Flame Cascade or Fireburst for Mass Detonation. FC disables weapon mastery crit and probably does less damage, but I also heard it restores more power. Is Mass Detonation able to be switched out for either one? It seems helpful to have a strong ranged attack in the loadout. Thanks!

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Malebolgian, thanks for your question. The best way to deal damage with most of the powers including Fire is by using its Advanced Mechanics. That is why you dont need to worry about weapon mastery crit bonus because in raids and alerts you wont need to use it so you can focus on Advanced Mechanics. However, you can replace Mass Detonation with Fireburst because they are similar powers but only change its range. Just remember using your advanced mechanics is the best way to deal DPS and using weapon mastery combos is only viable when your enemies constantly interrupt your casting or you are out of power

  18. Irene marz

Hi I just started playing dc universe I was wondering how to spend the points you get as you level cause I don’t wanna spend money on the re spec machine time and time again cause I didn’t spend my points right
Can anyone tell me what to do for dps starting from level 1?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Irene, it is hard to define a exact order to spend points below level 30. In fact, reaching level 30 is ending game tutorials to starting become a real DCUO Players. I would start unlocking Inmolation superpowers and then going to Ignition tree. You must know that for dealing heavy dps you must master Fire Advanced Mechanics which is explained in this guide 🙂

  19. Eion

If your a ranged fire dps what weapon and loadout do you use? If your a close combat fighter what loadout and weapon do you use? And can you combine a close combat and ranged loadout?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Eion, for DPS having a weapon which is great at melee and range is the best way to go. I personally use One Handed so i can deal heavy and fast damage in both melee and range.

  20. Eion

I am new to fire dps can you tell me all the rotations and mods and things like that. I don’t really understand this guide.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Eion, rotation and mods are explained in this guide. The best way to understand it is to read it and try to put it in practice. You can also check the video below where is explained a little bit how to deal dps with fire. Or you can go to youtube and see more videos about Fire dps. The rotation is “Burning Determination [1]” – “Inferno [2]” – “Fiery Weapon [3]” – “Fireburst [4]” (mid range) or “Flame Cascade [5]” (long range)

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Firestarter, fire damage has been improved. However, Ice, Mental, Quantum, and Munitions are still doing greater damage

  21. Aren

Well i have just seen 1 thing ,i dont use inferno ,instead i clip fiery weapon with the Burning determination and all seem to work great power consumption is less as well as i did not see much diff in the hits can you look into it ?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Aren, it is a great variant and as you sed without inferno power consumption is less 🙂 For raids and alerts, using inferno will be great choice though because you have a controller to power over time 🙂

  22. day1 player

I have 170sp and I switched from ice dps to fire. And fire is greatly improve from the past but I find it still “very weak” compared to ice, I am doing far LESS damage now even thou their loadouts are almost the same, and fireburst is so slow next to artic? And it seems besides the damage difference the AM appears to be awful. im always running out of power with fire, but ice completely opposite. Im wondering during your testing if you have seen this or have any ideas?
    Appreciate it, Thx

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Day1player, i agree with you Fire AM depends on having Burning Determination which doesnt last long if you dont refresh it constantly. I consider Ice AM better and faster than many others AM. We usually test AM in PVP, Challenges, and Duos for more knowledge about how fast AM are and ice seems to be the best of them in my opinion

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Flame Cascade will help you a little to crowd control your enemies but DPS is not considered a good crowd control role

    2. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Vicious, we only provide explained written guides for our community. It is hard for us to make videos thats why we try to explain as much as we can to let players understand our guides 🙂

If i had to choose between this loadout an advanced mechanics witch one would get me the most dps? Bcause im all about doing as much dps as i can to get my self to the top of the leader boreds when doing a raid.

I copyed this an it seems to be doing pretty well but i sometimes found my self not being able to get my mana back. sometimes it would run out the second i clicked it an my mana would just drop why is this?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Brayden thanks for your question. Fire Advanced Mechanics is the most powerful loadout for doing DPS with Fire. However, its AM needs you to have Thermal Absorption active all the time. It is important that Fire DPS Players master Thermal Absorption effect by seeing the blue fire or hearing the sound it emits so they can refresh its effect with “Fireburst [4]” or “Flame Cascade [5]” or reapplied with “Burning Determination [1]”

If you dont see the blue fire on your character then “Fireburst [4]” or “Flame Cascade [5]” wont be able to restore power and you will get low powered.

In summary, Fire Advanced Mechanics bases in this superpowers and power interactions:
      * “Burning Determination [1]” activates Volatility and Thermal Absorption (use it only if you dont have the blue fire on your character).
      * “Inferno [2]” and “Fiery Weapon [3]” dont extend Thermal Absorption effect but they restore power while you have Volatility and Thermal Absorption
      * You must use “Fireburst [4]” or “Flame Cascade [5]” to extend the duration of Burning, Volatility, and Thermal Absorption effects

Hope this answers your question 🙂

  24. Lion

In the variants section, you state that players must be “at least 12 meters” away to use #4 (The melee-mid-range power)… should that be “at most 12 meters”?

    1. Ohazzy

Hi I have to reply because I don’t know where the comment thing is at,and this question is going to be off topic but when I go to a tier 3-4 vendors it says vendor request fail and I have space and the required amount of cash and marks and it keeps doing it and I noticed it asked me am I sure because its a damage role(which I am) then when I click yes and purchase… vendor request fail. But when I go to a tier 2 I can buy

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello jaden, thanks for your question. Fire AM only works if your character has the blue fire on it that lasts only 5 to 6 seconds. If you dont refresh thermal absorption with fireburst or flame cascade you will need to reactivate thermal absorption with Burning determination and that will cost you power.

The thing about Fire AM is that you must keep refreshing thermal absorption with powerful attacks before the blue fire goes off, so if you do it correctly youll be dealing great damage 🙂

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello DH we are currently working on updating Fire, Ice, and Gadgets to GU49. We will try to release Fire Updates today 🙂

  25. lawrence

As always, I’m absolutely appreciative of all the work and effort your blog and team put into answering every question posted here. I’ve posted two myself and really am grateful you’ve answered them to astounding degrees.

I’ve yet to play with fire (pun intended) and looking at the planner and some of the powers, Fire seems to have 3 types of mechanics going on. Could you explain them a bit more? I see you have an AM load out created on the planner, but I still don’t get fires AM DPS.

    Thanks again!

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Lawrence, we are happy to be helpful 🙂 Fire Advanced Mechanics focus on: Burning Enemies, Absorb Heat, Flame Cascade, and Mass Detonation.
      * It is important that your enemies always have Burning on them for Volatility and Thermal Absorption deal their effects.
      * You need Burning on your enemies to apply Thermal Absorption (Burning enemies restore powers) and Volatility (increases damage done to your enemies especially Mass Detonation)
      * Flame Cascade and Mass Detonation refresh Burning, Volatility, and Thermal Absorption. So you won’t need to use Absorb Heat if you already have Thermal Absorption
      * Thermal Absorption is displayed as a Blue Fire animation on the player. When the Blue Fire is ON you will hear a sound like a extinguished flame, so if you use Flame Cascade or Mass Detonation before that sound ends you will refresh Burning, Volatility, and Thermal Absorption

A full rotation could be: Inferno, Meteor Strike or any other power that inflict Burning – Absorb Heat (activates Thermal Absorption) – Flame Cascade or Mass Detonation. If you hear the sound or see a blue fire aura on you, that means you still have Thermal Absorption so you dont need to inflict burning or use Absorb Heat unless you are hitting another enemy that is not burning

HOWEVER, Fire Advanced Mechanics is not recommended because it doesnt deal great damage comparing to other Advanced Mechanics. That is why this guide still uses weapon mastery loadout to inflict damage

  26. Infyrneax

I tried this rotation, and it’s very close to what a couple league mates of mine use and they do huge damage with it. I do not. I switched to this loadout:

Meteor strike, fiery weapon, flame cascade, mass detonation, inferno, stoke flames.

MS>FW>WM>FC>MDx2, rinse and repeat. I generally don’t even use Inferno and only hit stoke flames at times the healer is struggling. Even though MD is interruptable, it hits like a truck when the baddies are burning.

Works way better for me than the loadout here. But maybe that’s just me. My two cents.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello SerSpiffy, it is recommended for DPS to choose weapons that allows you to be great at melee and range situations so One Handed and Dual Wield are my favorite for DPS. You can check our Weapon Mastery Guides where you can find how to use your skill points according to your role

    2. DCUO Bloguide Post author

If you want a good range weapon Hand Blaster is great at it. However, you will encounter on melee situations when doing missions, challenge, and duos so learn how to fully manage a weapon for both situations. In DCUO, there is no way you can just be range dps, you need to be good at melee and range 🙂

    3. AvallancheBR

Because they are paying attention to all the powers and are leaving aside the power of fire? It is the power that less damages ?

  27. Uni

Hey…. i just wanna know if there’s any update on fire dps-ing.. i’ve been using AM lately, and at times it works great.. sometimes even at lvls with quantum dps-ing.. but other times, it’s horrible.. getting beat by 110 dps-es.. i don’t really understand what’s going on…..

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Uni, thanks for your comment. There havent been any changes for Fire in the recents updates so this guide stay the same. You can choose between AM and Weapon Mastery rotations. Some players suggest Weapon Mastery is better but i really consider that is more how people come to manage the rotation.

Being at top of DPS Scoreboard can be really tricky because there are some aspects you must consider:
      1. Number of Skill Points
      2. Soda Boost
      3. Tier equipped
      4. Equipment MODS
      5. Lag
      6. Power and rotation

Some players deals great damage because they have more of the aspects above than you so you should worry about being second or third in the scoreboard. However, if your are last at dps and the amount is huge then you should consider reviewing some of the listed aspects 🙂

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Uni, Fire hasnt suffer changes with GU44. We need to update this guide. However, i dont think this is gonna change much

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Zernokic, Dual Wield is a great weapon for DPS and Tank because it deals great damage, has fast weapon mastery combos, and hits multiple targets with their normal combos 🙂

In my opinion, dual wield is a great choice for you or you can try One Handed also hehe

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Itua, for what i have seen in forums and youtube videos. Penetrating Strikes is better for high combat rating content

  28. Uni

Would you suggest against AM? Right now I’m using WM with more or less a similar loadout to yours.. But I really miss AM..

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Uni, most people complained about low damage with ADVANCED MECHANICS thats why we changed to Weapon Mastery build and loadout

    2. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Well, it is not about nerfed, is more like Advanced Mechanics are not great as it supposed to be thats why some players consider that Weapon Mastery is a better option for fire DPS

    3. Uni

Also.. I was this guy in the USPC server having 10k might.. he only had 135 sp.. that’s 3 sp more than mine.. and his gear wasn’t any higher than mine as well.. and to think he modded his red sockets with might and prec VI exp.. while i modded mine with pure might VI exp.. how is this possible? i only have 6.8k might..

    4. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hi Uni, i think is really rare to see 10k might. Maybe he was using SODAS or being affect by group’s bugg while you inspect him.

    5. Uni

I wasn’t in-game when i inspected him.. it was actually in your census character list.. a toon by the name “argon..”

    6. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Census app displays current statistics including SODAS and PLAYER BUFFS. For example, if a player is doing “Love and War” raid, he is currently buffup with multiple superpower buffs. Thats why some players can have high statistics but when they leave the raid all that buffs go off and their statistics go normal again.

Checking people in Census app is really helpful but when you see very high statistics is better to watch over the equipment and skill points

    7. Uni

oh.. LOL i thought it was something permanent..

one last thing.. with the loadout suggested in your blog.. would you suggest might based or prec based mods?

    8. DCUO Bloguide Post author

It is a might based loadout because most of the damage will come from DOTS and Superpower Burst

  29. ronnie

just sad they over powerd all powers and fire is now thw lowest dps ever been fire for about 2 years now and now im the lowest dps in raid sad just sad

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Ronnie, we have update this guide with GU43 Weapon Mastery Loadout. I hope this help your damage increase 🙂

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Fire, with weapon mastery loadout is great to empower your weapon attacks. However, in fire dps which deals great area of effect damage focusing only in Precision is not the greater choice. I would choose precision or Precision and Might mods. It is a good tip that you also increase your might 🙂

  30. Sunturion

Hi guys. Just want to say that your site is an amazing resource for new players. Great job on it! However, your fire dps build is not optimal. With your current rotation and no Weapon master combo the highest I’ve been able to get is around 7.2k on the aoe dummies in the league hall. And that is accounting for the dummy dmg reduction. With a modified rotation including Weapon master combos I have been able to get around 9.3k dps. I have been testing different builds and the one that really stands out in dps is my weapon master build. The problem is that the WM loadout i use + rotation is extremely power hungry. Which is unfortunate because i really wanted the AM volatility mechanic to work for us so that we wouldn’t be such power hogs and compete with HL dpsers. To test different loadouts I use this website to parse my combat log

My current load is as follows:
Inferno, Fiery Weapon, Meteor Strike, Over Heat, Spontaneous Combustion, Fireball Barrage

Rotation: (WM = Weapon Master Combo)
WM+Inferno clipped with Fiery Weapon, WM +Meteor strike, WM +Over Heat, Wm + Spontaneous Combustion x 3, Fireball Barrage when Supercharge is full, repeat

With this loadout and rotation I am able to parse 10.8k to 11.3k on the same dummies in the league hall. All my parsing tests are done over 8 minutes. Enough to go through 2 supercharges. I have 129 SP and I am in full 97 gear with Synthetic mods. I use Dual Wield as my weapon.

i hop this help other fire users. I have been going crazy testing out different rotations and builds to maximize my dps. But even still we can’t compete with the newer powers. The silver lining is that as of the latest patch with the changes to ice and mental , the devs look like they want to bring the classic powers into line with the dlc powers. I hope that is true and soon because I have been a fire user since beta and would hate to change now.

    Thanks again!

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thanks Sunturion for your great comment. We have received some thoughts about AM not being great as it sounds so we will go back to recommend WM Build and Loadout

    2. Sunturion

I appreciate you guys looking into this. Last night I ran Artifacts with my league in your suggested AM loadout but with my modified Weapon master rotation included. Of the 4 dpsers I was ranked 3 in the end when I am normally in first or second place depending on if there are any HL users. Aside from the major dps loss, the power consumption was fantastic. We only had one troller in the raid and my power was between 75% to 100% full. I am considering using your AM load out in 4 man situations where 1 troller is on duty. Still though, in T6 content, Mass Detonation is hit or miss. Its long cast time and interuptability is such a nuisance and liability. I got interrupted a bunch of times casting Mass Det. on bosses and on add waves.

      Happy Holidays!

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Ronnie thanks for writing us. We have received some thoughts about AM not being great as it sounds so we will go back to recommend WM Build and Loadout as soon as we can 🙂

  31. ronnie

fire dps is so week now please find a good loadout for them im about done with dcuo i was doing good tell they messed my stuff up now we the most lowest dps out here

  32. ronnie

this all might 43 update for fire dps just seems weak then your last setup im now being out dps by 96 gear player im all 97 with expert mods and have about all of my rare 97 gear from raids so whats everyone els think

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Ronnie, advanced mechanics is the most recommended build and loadout for now because it is now balanced to deal same or more damage than weapon mastery combos. This required tons of might stats to deal great damage 🙂

    2. Chris

I’m in the same boat as him. I’ve been running this loadout for about a week now. I’ve done multiple raids and alerts. I’ve been out dps by other toons with 95, 94, and even some 92 gear! I’m full 97 equipped with all might mods. I should not be getting out dps by people with that low of gear. Mass detonation does hit hard. But the entire loadout itself is weak. You won’t top charts with this. I think the developers should go back to the drawing board with this one.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Of course Fire, with GU43 most of our guides will be updated but we need some time for it hehe 🙂

  33. Reverse magic

I keep get smack all over the place in pvp and get stuned instantly when I get hit i pvp is there any why to prevent that? And is there any tanking tips I am mostly a healer

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Reverse, to avoid getting stunned or controlled by your enemies attack you need to get resistance to those attacks. This resistance comes from blocking or freeing the attack’s effect. Some powers like mental or nature have multiple superpowers that deals crowd control effects and it is hard to create a resistance for all their powers so you need to focus on killing them fast.

Fire is not the type of power that have multiple crowd control like the powers mentioned before. But winning a pvp match is about dealing great damage, interrupting, blocking with your weapon mostly

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

DCUO is focusing on making Awesome Mechanics for most powers, so i would say loadouts oriented to use mechanics to deal damage will be greater than weapon mastery loadouts. When GU43 arrived we will update all our guides and we probably will promote awesome mechanics

    2. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hi Dom, one handed and dual wield are great weapons for DPS because they both have fast and powerful combos

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Jake, for choosing a rightful weapon i suggest pick the ones that have fast combos and weapon mastery combos. Dual pistols for dps is not much used because it makes you jump all over the place. Bow and Dual pistols are range weapons but for dps you should choose a powerful weapon in melee and range situation such as One Handed, Dual Wield, Brawling.

  34. Secriv

Is having fire ” thermal effect” loadout viable end-game? I’ve been leveling as one and it’s been so much fun. So far I got 1.mass D 2.inferno 3.flame cascade 4.absorb heat 5. Fireburst 6. Volcanic calamity. Also! Which one is a tad better? Fireburst or mass D?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Secriv, thanks for asking. Fire thermal effect is also known as Fire DPS Awesome Mechanics Loadout you can find a pretty good build and loadout here I would recommend you Mass Detonation over Fireburst because it will deal heavy damage from high range spots despite Fireburst which needs you to be a little closer to your enemies to hit them

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hi Shadow, you can get stoke flames which heals you and inflicts Burning on your enemies or Meteor Strike which deal great damage and also inflicts Burning to your enemies

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Bone, one handed is my favorite weapon for PVE because it hits really hard and fast. For PVP, i prefer brawling but since is difficult to use 2 weapons with a single skills build i use my One Handed for PVP too

  35. erik

Hey there quick comment. So I’ve been using a very similar loadout to this one with one change. I’ve been using stoke flames in place of overheat. I find that I can clip spontaneous combustion and stoke flames so every time I use a power… It’s two for price of one. Stoke takes little longer to cool than spontaneous. So full cycle is wm clip inferno&fiery… wm clip stoke&spontaneous… wm spontaneous. Then start over again. Give it a try and let me know your impression of this in place of overheat. Thanks

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thanks Erik for sharing your thoughts with us. We recommend stroke flames because it applyies and additional DOT on your target and deals more damage if immolation is active. However, Stroke Flames can be great only when you need to heal yourself like in PVP situations or solo missions.

It is a great idea to have them both and use them depending on the situation

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Yes Bone Daddy, this is the latest update for this guide. You can see 2 builds and loadout: Weapon Mastery and Awesome Mechanics

  36. Maddshadow

Ok so Im spec’ed for prescion. My friends fight me on this saying fire dps is a might based power. But I can’t always depend on a controller to feed me power. I figure with WM clipped with a power or not should still pack a punch. What do you think? Also, I WM with Inferno and then follow up with over. I was told this was a bad idea cause DoT doesnt stack. Basically one cancels out the other is this true or was I misd informed?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Maddshadow, fire makes a lot of damage from its superpower dots so having might boosted will increase your dps. However, if you use a weapon mastery build and loadout you can boost your precision but it is more recommended to get Might & Precision mods per equal, this will help you when you dont have controller and your weapon attacks will still doing great damage

Inferno is always recomended to clipped with another super powers such as Fiery Weapon and then Overheat. Inferno inflicts burning (this is the first DOT) on your enemies and activates immolation, then with Fiery Weapon, striking a Burning enemy may deal damage, and finally Overheat deals extra damage when Immolation and additional DOT (for what i know this DoT stack). If you use Spontaneous Combustion after this rotation, every dot, burning effect or each attack has a change to cause your enemies to explode, dealing more damage and knocking them down.

To resume, Inferno’s Burning. Fiery Weapon’s effect, Weapon Attacks, Overheat’s DoT will cause additional damage if Spontaneous Combustion is used after. I dont think they cancels out in fact i see all yellow numbers come out from my enemies.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Reverse, you can have Synthetic Mods and Normal MODS. However, you must have Home Turf to get Tactical MODS from your base dispenser 🙁

  37. erik

Hey quick question… they changed the chest white mod to just say gain 10% damage in core strength didn’t they? So wouldn’t that now be more beneficial than penetrating strikes? Thanks.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Erik, for what i read in the web penetrating strikes is better than core strenght because it gives at least 1.4% more damage than core strenght

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hi Lag, using Fiery Weapon allows you to deal more damage and provide a healing effect when hitting Burning enemies and it is a permanent buff while a Shield only lasts 4-5 seconds and has a long cooldown

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Jack, the most powerful super powers are used in the loadouts we recommend. Other superpowers can be great but their animation, cooldown, or casting time make them obsolete for dps 🙁

  38. ronnie

so with the new mastery loadout as a fire dps should i do all prec mods or mix them prec and might my mights 5303 and prec 2535

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Ronnie, with this loadout you can mix precision and might or focused only on Might. With this loadout, you are dealing more DOTS than weapon damage. I personally would go to mix precision and might

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Ronnie, with this loadout you can mix precision and might or focused only on Might. With this loadout, you are dealing more DOTS than weapon damage. I personally would go to mix precision and might

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Kephrys, with AM Fire Loadout you dont need weapon attacks at all because using the power interactions thermal absorption will restore power and let you continue using your superpowers. AM Loadout is great for DPSing just like the old days 🙂

  39. Kephrys

Hello ! I am deeply aware this is some kind of business, but I understand you plan a couple of builds this time, WM and AM ones ? When will you be ready to post it ?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Kephrys, we just update this Fire DPS Guide. You will be able to see “Fire DPS Weapon Mastery Loadout” and
“Fire DPS Awesome Mechanics Loadout” in the section Fire DPS Alternate Builds and Loadouts

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Grey, if you are using your weapon attacks more than your super-powers i personally boost my precision mods. In fact, this build and loadout i use it with precision MODS because i use weapon mastery combos a lot 🙂

    2. Grey

I must ask, why does your rotation include clipping WM with Fireburst? As far as I can tell Fireburst is excluded from WM. Wouldn’t it be better to clip Fireburst with SC in the following manner: WM > SC/Fireburst > WM > SC > WM > SC > repeat?

Also…doesn’t Fireburst take a whole lot of time to cast? I thought the amount of time it takes to use powers compared to WM would justify more might based modding. (I am currently modded might-based due to the long power cast times and dot-based attacks but my damage is seriously lagging behind others so I’m going to go more prec-based)

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hi Grey of course fireburst has a long cast. We are waiting for GU41 to update all our guides including this one. However, Fire can be might base loadout and weapon mastery loadout we will also provide multiples loadout when the GU41 arrived

    4. Dready

I have a small question aswell regarding fireburst, it feels like its a waste of power and time to actually use it, sure maybe as an opener to gain the 60% at the start , but with the Max Damage Hand Mod ( if every power now actually gives 60% , doesn’t even that become totally obsolete in regard of you using precision as main over might..? ,

If that is case what would you prefer as an replacement for the fireburst power?

    5. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Dready, fireburst is more for Might Based loadout and new mechanics coming in GU41. We will update our Fire DPS Guide with new builds and loadouts. Im sure this guide will have Might Based and Weapon Mastery Based build.

    6. Grey

Thanks for the replies mate. 😀
Fireburst’s activation time should be quicker by the end of the night. Looking forward to your update. 😀

  40. King Russ

First off I want to say thank you for taking the time to create this guide and respond to everyone’s questions and comments. Do you know if robot side kick takes away from base buffs? Or the downside of using it? I also want to ask if they are going to nerf the absorb heat? Because I can not keep up in raids with it. My loadout is inferno, fiery weapon, absorb heat, fire burst, mass detonation, and fire cascade.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello King, thanks for your comment. Robot sidekick does not takes away any base buff from you, it is only a robot that deals damage over time to your enemies. We dont know about any nearfing for absorb heat, in GU41 DOT superpowers will be affected but only for PVP. Thanks for sharing your loadout and if you have any question we are here to help 🙂

  41. Aaron

WM Inferno + Fiery Weapon, WM Meteor or Overheat, WM Spontaneous Combustion. Rinse and repeat. This loadout is way better than this awful one. Fireburst is a waste of valuable time.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thanks Aaron for your comment, we will update our guides for GU41. We are currently investigating the best builds and loadout, thanks for sharing yours 🙂

  42. antwon

I’ve tried this load out and the cast time for fireburst cuts your dps by a good amount
Try weapon mastery inferno clipped fiery weapon, weapon mastery overheat or meteor
Weapon mastery spontaneous X3 then repeat. Max damage mod will help. I always get top
    Dps or close 2nd

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Antwon, we are going to update all our guides when GU41 arrived and we will include some alternate builds and loadout when is necesarry as Fire DPS Might based and Burst base 🙂

  43. Dready

Hi , i’ve been experimenting abit with my firespec.. lvl 30.. i just have a small question might have been answered before or located somewhere else but what ever..

does the superpower mastery combo only work with instant powers or can channeling abilities trigger the superpower weapon mastery combo.. if so how exacly? i can’t get it to work only with instant spells.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Dready, weapon mastery combos only work on instant powers and Damage over time power that has instant cast. For Fireburst or Mass Detonation you wont be able to have them benefit from weapon mastery critical bonus

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Hymlokk, when using your skill points you must unlock the recommended movement skills first. Then you should unlock your weapon mastery and cross-weapon masteries. With only 70 sp, you will be able to have your movement skills and your main weapon mastery unlocked. Then you should try to get your cross-weapon masteries unlocked to help you in DPS role

  44. Arthy

Hey, I got bored of my t5/t6 chars and Im thinking about going Fire DPS for a change. BUT I think Fire looks badass with Martial Arts. Is this combination acceptable in the current PVE stuff?
I mean, I watched Legend Of Korra recently and having a hero that fights like a firebender would be awesome lol

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Arthy of course you can use Martial Arts which has amazing weapon mastery combos. However, its range combos needed for T5 and T6 content are to slow so you should practice your rotation 🙂

  45. Kephrys

Fire is my fav power, but mainly use to be a tank.
I try DPS with less-than-average results, much work to do.
What WM combo do you use in this rotation ? Solar, Pulse beam ? On highest content I guess you go range of course ?
The rotation sample you provide includes only WM movements ? Is Fireburst able to be WM-enhanced ?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Kephrys, we recommend One Handed: Solar Flame Mastery for range damage because you must use it in t5 and t6 content. The provided rotation shows player how to use their super-powers with the weapon mastery combos. However, player’s experience will be required to know when is the best moment to apply what weapon mastery combos and power.
Firebrust doesnt get enhanced by Weapon Mastery Crit bonus but if you have Enduring Damage BASE MOD, your weapon mastery combos damage will be increased by 60% for 20 seconds

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Mike, you can unlock Mass Detonation instead of Robot Sidekick, that will allow you to have Weapon Mastery Rotation and Might Based Rotation

    2. Mike

Ok so i went robot in the end because i think i’m doing this wrong. I am out of power constantly. What am i doing wrong?

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Using Fireburst and Mass Detonation consume a lot of power. That is why it is recommended to use it only with a controller. Thats why we suggest weapon mastery loadouts because the most damage will come from weapon attacks

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello PrivatePaula, every build and loadout are viable with any kind of weapon. However, choosing your main weapon will inflict more damage or less damage depending on how you use it. I personally recommend One Handed but if you want rifle you should try it out 🙂

    2. PrivatePaula

ok fine ;D and which weapon combos do you prefer for rifle? sry, but i play this game since 1 week, and i have no idea ;D

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Dont worry PrivatePaula, we have guides for almost everything in our blog. You should check Rifle Mastery Guide to know more about: Weapon Mastery Tips, Cross-Weapon Combos, Rifle Statistics, and more 🙂

  46. BlackDovah

Hi I have a level 26 Fire hero with brawling I am kinda new to the game just started some days ago I read this guide and understood that fire is not really that powerful but so far I usually win pretty easy in PVPs and do a good job in PVE with my mix between damage skills and the healing ones keeping my self with as much health and power as possible while doing some good damage and keeping the enemies knocked on the ground if possible so did the gu39 update arrive and that’s why fire got better or could I be going in the right direction without realizing? ty for reading all this 😀

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello BlackDovah, fire got improved with GU39 and as you said it is really good at pvp and for leveling to use a mix between damage and health. However, you will see that reaching level 30 is just the beginning of the game and in fact you will need to put some healers powers to improve your damage.

My advice is thst you keep enjoying your character. It is nice to level up a power snd with experience you will make your own build and loadout as you do right now 🙂

  47. Nice Guy

Do you think that after GU39, fire is finally viable option for DPS that can match powers like rage, HL or Nature?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Nice Guy, Fire can be used by two different ways. Weapon Mastery rotation or Might Based. I dont think that Fire can match with Rage but definitely can match with HL or Nature and even be more powerful than them.

  48. Kuro

Hey, I’m new to the game and have taken advice in choosing One-Handed as a Fire DPS. But I’m confused as to how I should use my Skill Points? So far I have the five combos going down the middle / Precision (6x) / Critical Attack Damage (3x). Where should I put the rest of my skill points before I unlock One Handed Mastery?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Kuro, to complete the 20 points required you should unlock Health (3x) and Power (3x). This will increase your survival and power pool

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Muneeb, One handed can suit excellent for this loadout. It has fast weapon mastery combos 🙂

  49. Maro

I was curious to see if I should change into FIRE DPS. Used to be a Fire DPS but went and changed my Handblaster demoness character into fire. I primarily like to think of myself as a Might based DPS, would it be worth it to switch back?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Maro, you can now build a powerful Fire DPS might based using Fireburst and Mass Detonation together. Fire has been greatly improved with GU39. However, i would like to know what power are you now to advice you better

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Mister, you can use any weapon you like for Weapon Mastery DPS Rotation. It is recommended to have fast weapon mastery combos to inflict more damage, i prefer One Handed though. With Hand Blaster the recommended weapon mastery combos are:
      * Arrow Fling Mastery (range)
      * Ground Pound Mastery (melee)
      * Haymaker Mastery (melee)

  50. Karl

Hey, I just noticed some mistakes in the guide. The cooldowns are different. SC’s is only a second now. FW and Inferno are actually now the same. Between 10 and 12 seconds. Really the way it is setup now, Inferno is the only one that every gets clipped with FW. SC no longer causes burning, from what I can tell i t is best to be spammed with WM after inferno is activated. Also FW now adds might but its only +15 so I have no clue how that is all that helpful.

    1. Itua

change out robot for mass det? Mass det does some sweet damage now, i hit up to 12k with it o.o

    2. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Of course Itua, Mass Detonation is dealing great damage if thhe target has the 3 levels of volatility. In fact, using Mass detonation and Absorb HEat instead of the supercharge and the robot is another recommended build but it will required to boost Might stats and use your super-powers more than your weapon attacks

    3. Itua

thanks for the advise and yeah that’s great for me because i’m a might based dps 😀

  51. Karl

NOt sure how I feel about fire update. Speed up for fireburst is nice, and the fact you can move while doing it. DOn’t really understand “3 levels of volatility” fireburst was the only power that even mentioned it?

Spontaneous combustion cooldown is way quick but it is no longer a tick power but a one hit and doesn’t cause burning. Fiery weapon cooldown is much longer now so really cant be used that often for clipping.

Looking forward to seeing what the experts come up with for a good power bar.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Karl, we just updated the Fire DPS guide. Spontaneous Combustion passed to be a super-power burst for Weapon Mastery Rotation. Fireburst is now a recommended super-power because it increase the damage done to Burning enemies with Volatility effect. There are 3 levels of volatility and having the 3 of them will deal more damage to Burning enemies.

    2. Karl

Hey thanks for being so quick! I think I agree with your assessment so far. Only thing I am not sure about is i still love my snuff out over VC. It is a great power to finish bossess off with. I still dont fully understand how volatilty work as there is no documentation though so maybe that has some impact.

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello karl, if you dont want a supercharge power in your loadout, you should try Mass Detonation, volatility levels were made to power up your damage on burning enemies but it was especially made to increase the damage of your Mass Detonation.

Mass Detonation deals pretty heavy damage if the target is burning and has the max volatility level (this can be applied with Fireburst) but you will need to boost your Might over your precision and focus on doing damage with your super-powers more than your weapon attacks

    4. Karl

Hmm I dont think I like that setup. I have seen videos of people running with it and yes they put out damage but nothing more than you can with WM and quick powers. Using MD and FB together also limits what you can get for iconics. If they ever nerf WM that might be the way to go but I don’t think they are going the right direction with fire. Let’s see how I feel after playing some more.

    5. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Karl thanks for your comment, we forgot to delete the tips about cooldown that doesnt apply anymore to GU39. And you are right there are 2 recommended builds and loadout for Fire now: one for Weapon mastery rotation and another with Might Base which include use Fireburst and Mass Detonation

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

We just updated our Fire DPS Guide. If we see there is another recommended build and loadout for Fire DPS we will change it 🙂

  52. Bruce

Will you be updating this guide to gu39? I am trying to make my own thermal absorption build with absorb heat but because I have fireburst and mass detonation on my loadout, the rotation is slow and vulnerable to interrupt. I use wildfire clipped with fiery weapon then absorb heat for thermal absorption , weapon mastery fireburst for 3 stacks of volatile , weapon mastery mass detonation for the bonus on volatile. It’s not too bad on power cost and the damage is good, it just makes solo content a bit annoying. Thoughts?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Bruce, we just updated this guide. Using the Thermal Absorption can be really good if you dont have any Controller in your group, otherwise you shouldnt bother by having Thermal Absorption and Absorb Heat in your loadout.

As you said having mass detonation and Fireburst will make your rotation pretty slow, but if you still want to do it then go full Might based and use your Mass Detonation instead of your weapon mastery combos. Mass Detonation will deal heavy damage if your target is Burning and has the 3 levels of Volatility

  53. Pablo

Hello, I just wanted to make a quick question. Just started playing this game and I’d like to know which combos are best suitable for this DPS class. I started a Fire guy and I’m using brawling as my main weapon. Thx.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Pablo, we recommend One handed for DPS because it has fast combos and great weapon mastery combos

    2. Pablo

The thing is I already chose Brawling, and personally I like it very much, even if One Handed is better.. I just wanted to know if I should just go down the Might and precision route for this build and what combos you recommended since I don’t feel like making another character for this role solely because of this. Thx for your answer!

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Of course Pablo you can use the Brawling: Enhanced Shuriken Mastery combo in the rotation. However, just for you to know, you can use One Handed with no problem without needing to make a new fire character again. You just need to grab a One handed and reset your skill points

    4. Karl

Staff is good now too with WM because of Mortar. Quick and does massive damage, staff has always been an underrated weapon in my opinion. I am one of the few people who use it.

    5. DCUO Bloguide Post author

I agree with you Karl Staff: Mortar Mastery is great for range attacks. However, its melee mastery combos are very limited 🙁

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Codd Father, we just update fire dps loadout now but the only change made is that Detonate was took off from it. Spontaneous Combustion is the new Super-power burst and it is highly recommended to have Fireburst in your loadout. We will update this guide if we see that there is another recommended build and loadout for Fire DPS

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Dual Pistols has long combos and slow weapon mastery combos. You should try One handed instead

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello ogro, you can start a fire character now to reach level 30 and use it when gu39 arrived.

  54. bugsy

hi noobie here just want to know what is the best dps class? also range or mellee? and also the bet class for leveling thank you /:)

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Bugsy, all powers have their pro and cons. However, i really prefer Rage, Sorcery, or Electricity as DPS role

  55. Shuu

I’m playing on pc,but I don’t have a 7th slot available for the bot,I only have it for consumable.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Shuu, when we put 2 powers vertical align means that you should choose one of them. Depending on the situation it can be helpful to change your loadout

  56. jonathan

    hello, newbie here haha.
I’m going to use hand blaster, but i’m thinking which power should i use, fire or sorcery.
I want to do dps but maybe i can help out my friends sometimes.. but i dont really like the colour of handblaster range attack of sorcery haha.. which do you prefer? fire or sorc?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Jonathan, Sorcery will be great for damage and for leveling fast. Fire will be updated in the next Game Update 39 so my recommendation is Sorcery 🙂

Unlock your Fury pet fast as you can, this will help you to reach level 30 fast

  57. Tait Erickson

Why robot side kick? You changed the load out again can you help me understand I thought your first load out of the fire DPS was great I never likes the side kick

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Tait, Robot Sidekick’s damage was boosted with lately Game Updates. This GU38 build uses a Weapon Mastery Loadout for DPS rotation. So this new rotation focus on using your weapon more than Super-powers. Robot Sidekick is highly recommended for Weapon Mastery Loadouts and it is used even un Survival Mode.

However, Fire powers will be updated in GU39. When GU39 get launched we will update this guide again 🙂

  58. Shuu

I want to make a new player,I spent my money on station cash instead of dlc so I have to work with the ones you get for free,I’m not interested in pvp,but rather in pve any suggestions on powers?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Shu, for pve these are my recommendation: ice for Tank, sorcery for Dps, nature for healer, and gadgets for controller. Fire will get an update soon so maybe it get really improved:)

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Every guide has an Equipment MODS section, there is where we suggest the best MODS for each power

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

It is said that Gadgets is excellent for PVP. However, Fire DPS will be revamp with GU39. I will go to Gadgets if you ask me 🙂

  59. Karl

Wow this is so different than what was considred a strong loadout before WM. I’ve used fire since F2P and one thing I disagree with is that fireburst should be used before any combos. I tend to hit Fireburst then my precision trinket(precision is much more important than might now).

FB->trinket->WM->SC->FW->WM->inferno->WM->WM->WM… until I estimate 20 seconds then repeat using secondary trinket or supply drop. When dealing with boss battle and it’s health reaches 35 percent I will change trailing end of cycle to WM->SO->WM->SO.. etc.

I actually have flashpoint in there which is rarely used but comes in handy when I get surrounded by enemies to knock them down and reposition.

Something tells me this is going to change with GU 39. I’ve never really used any other power, perhaps it’s time to try lightning finally.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thank you Karl for your rotation, we try to recommend Builds and loadouts that can help players start with their Fire DPS. It will be updated at GU39 so we will have to investigate a new build and loadout for Fire again.

    2. Karl

I am thinking mass det m ight become a better choice over fireburst with gu 39 since its cast time is being “significantly recuced” compared to “slightly reduced”. I would definitely recommend one of these two powers be on some ones bar so they can get the 60% boost for 20 seconds with white mods. Snuff out used to be a definite but now I am wondering if with WM it is no longer needed. I think I might try robot sidekick, I wasn’t aware that they have since improved the AI. Perhaps swap snuff out for robot sidekick and fireburst for mass detonate? Mind if I ask why you have detonate in your rotation? I ultimately decided to use flashpoint instead but curious as to your reasoning.

    3. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Karl, Detonate has pretty good damage when you use it on Burning Enemies. Detonate plus your weapon mastery crit bonus is an excellent finisher because fire doesnt have any other super-power that could be used as a weapon mastery finisher. The only problem using Detonate is the 35% damage buff, but if you have the HAND Mod this wont be a problem

    4. Karl

Ok so I played around with detonoate today. The damage even on burning enemies and linked to WM is still low in comparison to snuff out. Is there a reason why you don’t recommend snuff out. I assure you I am not trying to be argumentative or a contrarian I really just want to figure out the best loadout for my gameplay. I was HOPING that snuff out would prove weak in comparison to detonate so that I could just get rid of it and flameburst and instead go for mass detonate as I theorize with the next update mass det will be the better choice over flameburst but when playing with the dummies snuff out seems to be the better choice. Currently I am thinking Spontaneous combustion, fiery weapon, inferno, flameburst, snuff out and robot sidekick.

    5. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thanks Karl for your comment and to personally try our recommendations and share your thoughts about it, we really appreciate it. We tried Snuff out and using it requires casting it so like using your weapon mastery combos is the main damage from your character, thats why we recommend Detonate which is a fast super-power and will let you use your Weapon mastery combos more times.

Also using your supercharge can be very useful for many players. So using Volcanic Calamity will be a wonderful choice for many people. I like your style unlocking Snuff Out instead of Volcanic Calamity (supercharge power). That is another build we thought of but we prefer loadouts with supercharge so that is the reason for why this guide is as it is.

However, Fire will be updated soon with GU39. We will be very happy if you constructively criticize this guide as you did now. We are so glad to have people like you helping us 🙂

  60. angelfish

Hello, I have 93 SP and I would wonder if should spend them on might and then WM or just might and precision and wait for WM when i have more.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Angelfish, with 93 SP you already can unlock Weapon Master Might & Precision points. So i recommend you to unlock them in the first place

  61. Chris

Snuff out are just way too slow, i’d recomend detonation and overheat (for a little self healing, comes in handy when soloing) and as weapon handblasters with bow mastery or bow with dual pistol mastery(full auto)

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Thanks Chris for your recommendation we will update our guides soon with WM Combos 🙂

  62. Bruce marko

What would be a good loadout for a 2h fire dps. I find that the hammer throw hits multiple enemies so 2h can be used as a ranged or melee. Since fireburst and mass det no longer have the massive damage output they used to have (been playing for two years) I’ve been trying to find a decent rotation that will yield competitive results.2h fire dps is a unusual build but I like it and it’s worked very well but since the updates it’s been difficult to find an effective loadout.thanks for the help

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Bruce, thanks for asking. Two handed is a powerful weapon but very slow. However, you can use it with Arrow Storm Mastery (which require 2Hold) so you will hit multiple enemies with Hammer Throw and Arrow Storm. Using Weapon Mastery combos will supply super-powers nerf that Fire DPS has suffered.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Kathy, mostly making melee dps is always more powerfull than range dps. However, depending on the situation you need to do range or melee DPS

  63. Bravotitan22

Question I’ve played dcuo but ots been a year and wanted to know would staff be a good dps weapon with this load out?

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Bravotitan22 thanks for your comment. One handed or Brawling are the most recommended weapons for DPS due to their easy and fast Weapon Mastery Combos. Staff is not often used because its combos are slower than other weapons, and for DPS you need to be fast and lethal

  64. Foo

Would you say Brawling is bad for fire dps? I notice it is not recommended for Fire DPS or Fire Tank. Will I be seriously gimped if I continue to use it? I just think it looks cooler than dual wield or 1h weapon.

    1. DCUO Bloguide Post author

Hello Foo, we try to recommend weapons that deals damage to multiple enemies for your tank to get aggro faster. Brawling combos are slow and some of its combos do not attack multiple targets. However, you should play with Brawling if your really like it.

For DPS, Shuriken Storm Mastery is great for you to perform Weapon Mastery bonus so i would say Brawling can be very good for DPS range using Shuriken Storm Mastery of course

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hello Questions, thanks for your comment. Volcano calamity is recommended to be used when targeting multiple enemies. They will be rooted and stunned.

  65. Mike

Hi, i can do the bonus of weapon mastery combo with the skill Fireburst?, Because I’ve tried but I can not.

  66. krol el

hey blog guide guy lol, can i add you as my friend pc server? you can email your username to me 🙂

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hi Krol el, to avoid inconvenience and spam on our member’s character, we want to keep the in-game anonymity. This allows us to work safely 🙂

  67. Ted

So is this the better loadout because a few days back I checked this and customize my own personal loadout to what you guys had.

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hi Ted, yes this is a better loadout Fireburst and Snuff Out will deal heavy damage 🙂

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

      Hello Robinson,
For one handed, we recommend you to unlock:
      1. Air Launch
      2. Spin Chop
      3. Flurry
      4. Flip Slash

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hello Robinson, thanks for your comment. In this Fire DPS loadout, fiery weapon is the only one used to clip others power 🙂

  68. Rabechs13

Hello. I have 20 skill points to use (I reset my skills) and dual-wield weapon…

What features should I choose to dual-wield?

    Combos, etc…

And one more thing, i’m spanish,

when translating the word “Might” to spanish means two things:

Might: Power or force ¿Which of the two do you mean??

    Thanks 🙂

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hi Rabechs13, thanks for your comment. When we speak of MIGHT we are referring to Fuerza. Your DPS Fire base its damage on Might. For Dual-Wield, you should unlock: Whirlwind Overstrike, Stunning Swipe, and Dual Flurry.

If you have any other question you can post it in our fanpage too. There I can answer you in spanish if you like 🙂

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hello David, thanks for replying. For PVE, i personally use Dual Wield as main weapon. However, One handed and Rifle are very good weapons too. With Amazon Fury: Part 1, there will be a lot of changes in the weapon tree so they might be other weapons that could be improved 🙂

    2. David

Sorry to disturb. One last question. Could I start on PVE with double handle and when he steps into level 30 switch to PVP and get the Brawling?

      Thanks again!

    3. dcuobloguide Post author

You can switch your main weapon anytime you want. In fact, you can be level 30 and use Dual Wield for PVE and Brawling for PVP, you just need to have both armors and weapons and switch when needed.

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

      Hi David, thanks for asking.

I always recommend 4 weapons for PVP: Brawling (my favorite), Martial Arts, One Handed, and Dual Wield. One handed is not to much powerful than hitting with brawling but i have powerful combos and increases Hit Counter faster (needed to generate power faster).

These 4 are the most used weapons by players in PVP.

  69. Cristianna

I have a question about spending skill points in Dual Wield and Acrobatics: what would you suggest that I unlock there?

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hi Cristianna, thanks for your commente. Here is my recomendation to your skill points distribution:
1- Unlock your main weapon combos you want to use. For dual Wield i recommend you to unlock: Whirlwind Overstrike, Stunning Swipe, and Dual Flurry
2- Unlock needed Acrobatic points. It is important to unlock the skills that help you be faster and recover power when you are controlled. In the Acrobatic Tree unlock: Rocket-assisted Glide, Knockback Resistant, Knockback Recovery, Stun Resistant, Stun Recovery, Breakout Mastery.
3- Unlock weapon trees that helps you getting your required Role Stats. As Fire DPS, your damage is based on might and you must focus on the following stats: Might, Precision, Critical Weapon Attack Chance, Critical Weapon Attack Damage, Critical Ability Attack Chance, Critical Ability Attack Damage.

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Fire DPS base their damage with might. But if you want some nice weapons, we recommend One Handed, Dual Wield, or Rifle for PVE, and one handed, brawling, or martial arts for PVP

  70. corporal eddo

    Got tons of questions,

    1) what to do with the other skill points (for brawling/flight)?
    2) is there a guide what to do when i hit 30?
    3) what alerts are easiest to learn tanking?

these are the questions that pop up now, but later when i am almost asleep others will rise…

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hi Corporal, We are glad to help you.

Skill points must be use to enhance your role stats. For Fire DPS, you will need Might, Precision, Critical Weapon Attack Chance, Critical Weapon Attack Damage, Critical Ability Attack Chance, Critical Ability Attack Damage. For Fire Tank, you will need Defense, Toughness, Health, Dominance.

For Brawling, we recommend to unlock Double Fist, Hammer Fist, Launching Uppercut and Haymaker.

In Flight skills, you should unlock Supersonic, Dive Bomb, Stun Resistant, Stun Recovery, Restraint Resistant, Restraint Recovery and Breakout Mastery.

We will soon post guides about Reaching Level 30. However, you should focus on doing Feats to unlock more skill points. A player must have at least 90 skill points for their characters role to work to its full potential.

About tanking, Alert 51 is the easiest alert on DCUO. As a tank, your main task is keeping enemies hitting you and block their attacks.

  71. corporal eddo

    Total noob here,

    Started to play a week ago, i now have a lvl 26 fire dps (yay me!). I have 2 questions;

    1) what is “clip inferno and fiery weapon”?
    2) what is the rotation you use for max dps? Just hit 1 to 6?

    1. dcuobloguide Post author

Hello Corporal, thanks for your comment.

Clipping means you can hit Inferno and Fiery weapon together in that order. When you use Inferno, your character makes an animation, but if you hit Fiery Weapon right away, Fiery Weapon will activate and cut Inferno‘s Animation.

MAX DPS ROTATION: Inferno->Fiery Weapon->Spontaneous Combustion->Fireburst->Fireburst (Power Over Time Required)

Fire DPS has long cooldown powers so use your weapon attacks while you wait the cooldown to finish.

Hope to be useful, any other question comment it below.

    1. vrsauhing Post author

Remembering that weapon attacks can be clipped by any power and any attack power can be clipped by any support power. In this loadout, Fire DPS only have Fiery Weapon as a support power and that is why we recommended to use with Inferno which is one of the most important power on Fire Build because it inflicts burning and bestows immolation on your enemies.

You will ensure high DPS if you use keep activate Inferno and Fiery Weapon and then use your Snuff Out and Fireburst
